We did abstract painting today. Some residents did pour painting by layering the colors in a cup and pouring it onto the canvas. Others poured the paint directly onto the canvas and painted with fingers and brushes. All had fun, tapped into their creativity, and made beautiful art!

Meet our Care Services Manager Jim Desmarais, LPN!
Jim comes to us with 33 years of nursing experience, 20 of which were spent in the Army where he served as a nurse and medic. He also served in 3 combat tours, 1 in Bosnia and 2 in Iraq. Jim is originally from Hartford Connecticut, but has lived in Longview since 1992. Jim and his wonderful wife Ronnie have 3 kids and 13 grandkids!
Jim’s favorite thing about Highlander Place is the friendships he is making with staff and residents. His first priority is our residents' happiness and to glad to serve our seniors during their golden years. We are very blessed to have him on our team!
Highlander Place is excited to announce our first annual Coat Drive! All donations benefit The Community House in Longview and will be distributed to those who need it most.

Drop off your gently used coats here at Highlander Place or Longview Country Club now through November 20th to help someone stay warm this winter!
Thanks to our Life Enrichment Coordinator Pamela, who has been patiently collecting lots of flowers and leaves, our residents were able to make gorgeous suncatchers using Elmers glue! We will wait a week for them to dry and then hang them in our windows!

Today we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a vital leader of the American civil rights movement and a catalyst for change, racial equality, and justice for all.
Dr. King's leadership brought about meaningful progress and his enduring message is a reminder of the importance of servitude. Dr. King once proclaimed to a crowd in Alabama, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?" His call-to-action is more relevant now than it has ever been for our Enlivant community. We have a shared responsibility to help end the pandemic and create a sense of inclusion and belonging for all residents and employees. As an act of service, we call on you to help us protect our communities and each other, and do your part in getting the COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you.
