Cunningham Elected to State Association Board
OAK GROVE, KY – Traci Cunningham, Executive Director of the Oak Grove Tourism Commission/Valor Hall Conference & Event Center, has been elected Event Director of the Kentucky Travel Industry Association (KTIA). Cunningham was elected during the KTIA membership meeting on January 26, 2021. This position is for tourism professionals that have produced major festivals & events either on the Tourism side of the industry and/or a Conference & Event Center which Mrs. Cunningham operates on both sides. She will serve a 3-year term in this position.
Traci Cunningham, Oak Grove Tourism’s Executive Director says, “I am thrilled and excited to be a part of the Kentucky Travel Industry Association Board of Directors as one of their newest board members. I believe this is an extraordinary opportunity to better serve this industry. I am always looking for ways to do my part in helping Kentucky’s tourism economy grow and for the people of the country to see what an amazing state we have.”
For over 40 years, KTIA has been providing the tourism industry with advocacy, education, information, and business development services. Its work is a concerted effort to increase awareness of the vital role that tourism plays in Kentucky economy. Multiple conferences and legislative events are organized yearly, through KTIA, allowing attendees from across the Commonwealth to attend and engage in professional development.
KTIA hosts the Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference (KTIAC) in the fall of each year. This is the Commonwealth's only annual three-day conference focused on the tourism industry and is open to all tourism professionals, exhibitors and anyone interested in Kentucky’s tourism development.
One of the most important KTIA events regarding advocacy is Destination Frankfort. Destination Frankfort is an opportunity for Kentucky's travel and tourism industry to join as advocates on issues confronting the industry. Held each year during the General Assembly's Legislative Session, KTIA members are educated on legislative issues and advocacy information, in preparation for individual meetings with elected officials at the Capitol. Focusing on the economic impact the tourism industry provides for Kentucky, Destination Frankfort has become a key moment each year for KTIA members to come together with one message, to be heard.
Mrs. Cunningham graduated from the Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College as a Tourism & Travel Marketing Professional in March 2014 and takes part in many organizations and boards to help better, not only her community, but Kentucky as a whole. She currently holds the position of Treasurer for the Kentucky Association of Convention & Visitor’s Bureau as well as Vice President on the Southern Kentucky Film Commission.
