{6.12.1967} Today marks the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision on Loving v. Virginia. Mildred & Richard Loving were arrested for interracial marriage & avoided jail time by leaving the state. Returning to D.C. the couple took legal action by writing U.S. Attorney General and taking it to Warren Court where it was unanimously ruled in their favor. This ended the ban on interracial marriage in the US, ruling the laws unconstitutional. Mildred & Richard had 3 children and remained married until Richard's death in 1975.
