Birth Trauma Awareness Week is organised by The Birth Trauma Association. It usually takes place in July, but this year it has been postponed and is due to take place from 6 to 12 September instead.
WHAT IS BIRTH TRAUMA?
Birth trauma is the experience of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after childbirth. It applies to any woman with PTSD symptoms after birth. You do not need a formal diagnosis of PTSD to suffer from birth trauma.
There is a misconception that only soldiers experience PTSD. The reality is that it can occur after any traumatic event. PTSD can affect witnesses too. This means the partner of someone who has a traumatic childbirth might also experience birth trauma.
There are a variety of treatments for birth trauma, including counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy or EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing). The Birth Trauma Association website has useful advice on how to seek help for birth trauma.

A "rainbow baby" is a child born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, or passing away of an infant. These babies signify hope and healing after a loss. For parents, these babies are "the rainbow after the storm."
August 22 is National Rainbow Baby Day and offers mothers a chance to share their experiences, grieve, reflect, and celebrate the joy for their rainbow babies.

My husband starting us on this kick of DIY’ing our wet wipes this summer + we‘re pretty obsessed!
So simple and easy to have them everywhere:
- in the kitchen
- in the bathrooms
- in the car
- camping
- kids sports bags
- purse
- etc etc etc.

🌍 friendly note: We are big proponents of reusable items in our house and use washable towels + napkins for just about everything. But these come in handy sometimes ya know!
Plus I prefer to make them at home rather than buying pre-made packages filled with who-knows-what ingredients that are for sure not good for us.

Aaron and I had our reproductive DNA taken, fertilized, tested, and frozen via IVF, as my mom breezed through every preliminary test she took, to be able to give us this gift. Defying the odds at 51 years old, she’s pushing reproductive science out of the box, as ONE of only a handful of surrogates NATIONWIDE to deliver their grandchild via gestational surrogacy!⠀

Sharing this adventure with my mom has been the most unique and amazing experience. Surrogacy is truly the most selfless gift. She is the pure example of “you would do anything for your kids”, and if i can even be half of the mother she is, I know i’m doing something right!
