All of our services are curbside. If you are picking up medication or food, call us at 801-272-5557 when you arrive and we will meet you at the door with your goods, after we take payment over the phone.
For all appointments, here is a quick guide to our curbside service protocol:
1️⃣ Park in our parking lot and remain in your vehicle.
🚓 Do NOT park by the sidewalk in front of our building. This is a fire lane and not public parking.
2️⃣ Call us at 801-272-5557 - due to our curbside protocol our phone lines are sometimes busy. We appreciate your patience. Please call back of you can’t get through.
3️⃣ Our receptionists will collect payment information and inform your Veterinary Team of your arrival. Your Veterinarian or Veterinary Technician will then get your pet’s history over the phone then meet you at the front door.
🌡️It's hot out! When you call upon arrival, let us know if you'd like us to bring your pet inside right away so they have a cool place to wait while you talk to our staff.
4️⃣ Please wear a mask when you deliver and pickup your pet from our staff.
🛑 Do not knock, pound on the door or yell at the staff through the door. This terrifies our patients and slows the entire process of caring for your pets. If your pet is experiencing a medical emergency please call us at 801-272-5557
5️⃣ Return to your vehicle and enjoy the air conditioning or have a seat in the provided chairs out front.
⚠️We ask that you keep the doors clear. Not all pets are friendly entering or exiting the hospital and need space.
🥤Thirsty? Just let us know and we can give you a cold water bottle or drink!
6️⃣ Your Veterinarian will call you to discuss your pet’s exam, recommend care plan and get authorization to proceed.
7️⃣ Our receptionists will call you to authorize the charges to your method of payment, run your card and print your receipt.
8️⃣ Your pet’s Veterinary Technician will then return your pet to you at the front door.

As you may or may not be aware there have been mountain lion/cougar sightings in the east residential areas of Murray in the past few weeks. There was another sighting in the early morning hours today (September 22, 2020), in the approximate area of 1300 East to Van Winkle and 5600 South. Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) was contacted and told of the animal’s location.
The purpose of this notice is to bring awareness to residents and to provide information on what to do should you see a Mountain Lion near your home and how to keep your family and pets safe. DWR suggests that you bring children in before dusk and keep pets indoors at night. Lastly, don’t approach the animal. For more detailed information regarding mountain lion safety please visit their webpage: https://wildlife.utah.gov/living-with-cougars
Should you see a mountain lion please contact DWR (during regular business hours M-F) at 801-491-5678 or 801-538-4700. After-hours and weekends please report sightings to Murray Police Department, and we will contact DWR. Non-emergency dispatch: 801-840-4000 and in the case of an emergency dial 9-1-1.

Happy National Black Cat Day!
Black cats are the quintessential Halloween symbol, associated with witches, bad luck and even the devil. Unfortunately, these associations have been detrimental to these beautiful babies. Black cats are less likely to be adopted from animal shelters and rescues.
However, in some locales, notably Scotland, Britain, and Japan, the presence or appearance of a black cat is indicative of imminent good fortune and prosperity.
So let’s add a little luck and good fortune to this dumpster fire of a year, go adopt a black cat today! Salt Lake County Animal Services is offering $10 adoption fees on all cats and kittens through October 31st.
Best Friends Animal Society - Utah is waiving adoption fees for working cats. These are farm, barn, brewery and warehouse cats that will keep the rodent population under control.

We have another wonderful story for you today.
Dr. Crawford is snuggling sweet Ruby after giving her a clean bill of health.
One month ago Ruby was a stray at Uintah Animal Control and Shelter SSD picked up in horrendous condition. She had been injured, probably hit by a car and was suffering from a diaphragmatic hernia. What that means is that the barrier between her chest and abdomen had been traumatically ruptured allowing her organs to crowd her lungs. It’s very painful and life threatening. Richelle, one of our Vet Techs and real life angel, picked her up from the shelter and rushed her to the Vet.
Our friends at MedVet in Sunset performed the life saving emergency surgery. Since then Ruby has been thriving under Richelle’s exceptional care.

Sometimes friendships are forged in the most unlikely places. This was true for Ravi (adorbs floofy ginger) and Loki (roguishly handsome black & white) puppers.
Both gentlemen were Dr. McLain’s surgical patients yesterday. When they checked in for surgery yesterday morning they were instantly drawn to one another. Play bowing, tail wagging, nose booping and talking to each other. They pressed against the shared wall of their kennels to be closer and sniff each other.
When it came time for Ravi to go into surgery we had to cover Loki’s kennel because he was worried about his friend. Each doggo’s neuter surgeries went smoothly. During recovery both puppers howled in companionable self pity.
We wish them both speedy recoveries. We enjoyed watching these sweet babies friendship blossom.
