Poll Site Policies to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
Saratoga County
Election Inspectors:
• Face coverings will be provided and are required to be worn at all times
• Face shields will also be available for optional use
• Inspectors must designate at least one inspector to manage flow of traffic, social distancing, and to clean all surfaces and privacy sleeves after a voter has cast their ballot
• Practice hand hygiene frequently: wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Practice routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces: including voting machine buttons and touch screens, privacy booths, ballot marking pens, stylus pens, electronic poll books, privacy sleeves, tables, doorknobs, etc.
• Hand sanitizer pumps will be provided
• Hand sanitizer spray will be provided
• Disinfectant wipes will be provided
• Paper towels will be provided
• Gloves will be provided and are required to be worn when distributing privacy screens and ballots to voters
• Disinfectant wipes and microfiber cloths will be provided in order to properly clean, sanitize, and dry the electronic poll books
• Distance markers will be provided and must be utilized throughout the poll site
Voters:
• Face coverings are required to be worn when in the poll site
• Social distancing must be practiced at all times
• Hand sanitizer will be available
• Poll sites will be cleaned and disinfected prior to the opening of the polls
• Poll sites will be cleaned and disinfected throughout the day
• Electronic poll books and stylus pens used to sign-in will be cleaned and disinfected regularly throughout the day
• To avoid large crowds, it is recommended that voters come to vote at off-peak times such as mid-morning and mid-afternoon
