It’s actually recommended that you include an extra room in your custom home plan, even if it’s only an unfinished basement or loft. This allows room for future growth, even if you don’t know what that is at this time.
A home built using log cabin construction is an investment that will not only provide a beautiful and energy-efficient place to live, but also one that will retain its value over a long time. On average, log cabins appreciate in value faster than most standard non-log homes.
Log cabin kits are another way to build a cabin, though they limit the flexibility of design. Kits also don’t come with professional advice about where to set up the cabin or how to lay it out.
The first step to new home construction involves digging out and pouring the foundation. It’s important to understand that depending on weather concrete takes around four weeks to cure to full strength, so there will be a break in the building process to enable this to happen.
For many people who work from home, having a quiet place to work can make or break their career. Let’s talk about what customization options are available for your new home office.
The interior of a cabin doesn’t need to be all the same kind of wood. Cedar accents, laminate or hardwood floors, stone accents or stucco add personality to the floor plan.
Did you know that the earliest tiles were produced in the Middle East some 7,000 to 8,000 years ago? Today, installing tile in your home is a smart upgrade, as it's durable, attractive, and easy to clean and maintain.

With a custom-built home, you even have control over the type of roofing materials you desire. You might choose to go with standard architectural shingles or upgrade to metal roofing, standing seam metal roofing, or other specialized roofing.
One of the things you can do for inspiration when coming up with ideas for your custom home is make a file of pictures you like from magazines or websites. Pull pictures of inside and outside living areas. This will help you later when working with the construction team.
One of the benefits of remodeling your home is that with proper planning, the project can make your home more comfortable and enjoyable. Whether you're improving the layout, adding more space, or replacing windows and doors, remodeling can greatly increase your enjoyment of your home.

It’s important to remember that you don’t have to know every detail of what you want in your new home to start the process. As long as you can tell the architect how you plan to live in the home once it’s built, he or she should be able to pull from his or her experience to design a home you’ll love.
Remember, your custom home construction process should be a fun and exciting time for your family. Let’s talk about exactly what you can expect from us and whether there’s anything we can do to help ensure all your needs are met.
When considering building a custom home or adding custom enhancements to your current home, speak to your custom home construction specialist about eco-friendly elements, larger garages, unique porches, and, in the case of a new home, finding a location close to the areas that may be important to your family, such as transportation hubs and schools.
