New construction inspection. What’s missing here? This is the laundry area. I’m sure the new homebuyer wants to be able to wash their clothes but there’s no plumbing here to do that. It appears the drywall crew covered all the plumbing off without making the proper adjustments. I was told by the builder rep that this house went through two previous inspections (one Parish and one private) and nobody had caught this. One thing I’ve learned in this business..... never assume anything.

Inspecting homes can be very dangerous. A fellow inspector was killed today in Florida while inspecting a roof. May he rest in peace.

Man electrocuted while working on a roof in Ormond Beach
From an inspection the other day on a newly-constructed house. What you are looking at is a thermal image of a breaker within a main electrical panel. The image shows the breaker to be extremely hot (“white hot”). This breaker services the electric heater and kept tripping off. The breaker was doing its job- the heater, located in the attic, was not operating properly and may have posed a serious fire hazard if the breaker had not tripped off. This is just one way we use the latest thermal imaging technology to protect our clients. Just another reason to get a home inspection.... even with new construction.
