A few more late season hives relocated This week. As the weather cools off and the season winds down bees work hard to capture the fall nectar flow and to ensure they have enough honey to last through the colder winter months. Both of these hives are relatively newer due to the lighter comb and most likely wouldn’t have made the winter due to limited honey stores. We have since relocated these bees into hives and will continue to feed them giving them a good opportunity to store enough honey and pollen.
Wow, what nice weather! As the scorching heat or summer wraps up we are entering our fall bee season in north Texas. It will continue until the daily temps are below around 65 degrees and sometimes lasts until late October. Late season swarms are common as older hives split and more evidence of established hives is visible with bees beginning to fly again. Here are some bee removal pics of two recently relocated hives performed by Hany. If you are a beekeeper now is time to feed weaker hives to prepare them for the winter. I would also like to announce that we will be selling bees spring of 2021 and are taking orders for hives and nucs ready in April. Wow! What a fall. With temperatures dropping we are seeing increased late season bee swarms. Also if the weather holds we might get a fall honey harvest this year. Bee removal has picked up from the very hot August and the team is enjoying working in 80 degree weather vs 100+. As we prepare for next year and winterizing our hives I am exited to say that his was one of our best years ever. For all your bee related needs find us at https://thebeerescue.com
Another Hot day in Dallas / Fort Worth for bee removal but our team is still going strong. Recently, we added a few extra members to our crew to help feed bees in one of our apiaries. Special thanks to the three Jesuit students that helped move frames and feed! Bee removal is picking up as we see more rain and cooler weather but we are prime wasp and hornet season! Well just finished up another 300 boxes for the new bees in the apiary! I wanted to give a shout out to all the folks lately that have been helping. Shout out to the Jesuit students for working with us. These two gentlemen worked harder than my full time guys assembling and painting honeybee boxes. Shout out to our local Sherwin Williams for the miss paint to paint the boxes at a discount Shout out to Shannon for the great articles on killer bees, murder hornets, wasps and hornets of Texas, and the upcoming baking with honey blog. Another busy day in the bee yard. These girls are working hard collecting pollen and nectar. Ragweed and snow on the mountain seem to bee the main flowers this fall which makes a very interesting albeit aromatic honey. Many late season rescued swarms and bee removals!
