Clamps clamps clamps. Always a little nerv wracking procedure. So important to come up with a solid game plan BEFORE the glue gets applied. Specially with the 45 degree corners you wanna make sure you have all pressure points working at their full potential. Not saying this is how it’s done but it works for me. Cutting slots for biscuits. No room for error here otherwise the parts won’t go together as intended. Biscuits will swell up when they come in touch with wood glue which than results in a strong permanent connection. Together with the domino joiner crucial tools for wood joining. #bisquitjoiner

Teak has such a nice and warm look to it once teak oil is applied. Had good results with the Watco teak oil in the past. Just need to reapply periodically or it turns grey. What product do you use for outdoor finishes? #watcoteakoil #outdoortable #kakaakocustomfurniture
Another bed from my “collection” series completed. This time I used a piece of wood which had the sap (light) wood running all across. Both desk tops at their new home with height adjustable bases attached. Love to see the monkeypod grains with the #dietrichvarez prints in the background. Retrofitting existing cabinets with full extension drawers. Drawers made of solid walnut and birch wood. Much more practical and comfortable than diving into the cabinet every time you need something further in the back. Tallboys, at least that name came to my mind seeing these 13’ long slabs. According to Wikipedia a tallboy is literally a piece of furniture incorporating a chest of drawers and a wardrobe on top. (Always learning something new 🤓). Built to my clients imagination / sketch, this credenza is on fire 🔥. Had this batch of short curly boards coming in handy when I was selecting the lumber. This piece is now living on the mainland together with other pieces I was commissioned to built a year prior. Must be nice to take some pieces of Hawaii with you. Trundle bed made from beech wood. Often I forget that this wood is available. It’s nothing crazy in terms of colors and grains but rather clean looking, strong and also takes stains well (no stains on this one though). Used to work with it quite a bit back in Germany in the late 90s. This one is going into a teenagers (male) bedroom so heavy duty construction was on my mind. Took me a little of engineering to make it strong, being able to take it apart so it can fit through doors and last, housing two of the same size mattresses without large gaps on the top mattress. You can park a car on this now 😁. Trading for new rain gutters on my house 🏡 #trundlebed
Had this slab sitting in my shop for a while and it finally found a home. Always thought it would clean up nicely because of all the different colors and swirls. Took a good amount of resin to fill in all the voids but that’s how it often goes with exciting slabs like this one. The chairs where purchased separately by my client and even though they’re lighter they still harmonize with the lighter parts of the table. Bar table with matching chairs. Had to shorten the width on the table legs by cutting 5” out the middle. Because that section wasn’t long enough to make the trestle, I sliced them in half and glued them staggered back together to create more length. Taking these extra steps made it possible that the entire table was made from the same tree.
