In 1976 President Gerald Ford officially recognized February as the month of Black History. He called upon the public to "seize the opportunity to honor the too often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history."

National K9 Veterans Day is celebrated on March 13th on the official birthday of the US Army K9 Corps, which was formed in 1942. Joseph White, a retired military working dog trainer, originated the idea for the day.
Over the years, the military, police, and rescue have developed a variety of training methods for K9 units. Their training is tailored to meet the demands of the job, and each animal and handler carries out his or her duties to the fullest.

Celebrating National Social Work Month!
Doris is new to Hospice in the Pines, however, she has years of experience as a licensed Social Worker. Doris "enjoys working in this field because if allows me to help others when they are in need." Spoken like a true social worker. We are so glad to have Doris on our team as one of our Bereavement Coordinators.

Celebrating National Social Worker Month!
Meet Traci, she has been in this field since 1991 and she brings so much sunshine to this office! To Tracie being a social worker means "the happiest people I know are those who lose themselves in the service of others. And, that is what I have discovered in myself and found at Hospice in the Pines!"
