Thank you CBC Bank for your generosity! In August, our supporters at CBC Bank held a fundraiser for donations, and set us up with a promotional table within their building. Employees also held an internal office drive to replenish our bird seeds for our feeders outside of each patient room at our hospice house. Yesterday, representatives from CBC stopped by to present a generous donation of $1,070, as well as fill our feeders up for patients to enjoy watching the birds. We are so thankful for their support!

What set's our team apart from the rest? We're the only hospice with a hospice house in our area. While hospice care is mostly provided in our patient's residential setting, we also have an inpatient care facility that fulfills needs requiring clinical treatment of symptoms that cannot be fully managed at home. Our Langdale Hospice House is an elevated level of care that enhances quality of life for our patients, and it gives caregivers a break to handle personal matters and self-care. We received a beautiful donation of artwork at our Langdale Hospice House! THANK YOU Mr. Leon Colvin for sharing your amazing colored-pencil swan design with us, our patients, and visitors. We are so lucky to have a piece of art by someone recognized as the Southeast's premier colored-pencil wildlife artist! We will admire your talent for years to come.

Grief can be a difficult journey. We understand that losing a loved one is a heavy and lonely weight to carry for many of us. But, you are not alone- We're here to support you through it. Our adult grief support group will begin again next Tuesday, October 13th from 6pm-7pm. It will be held in our administrative building- 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta 31602. Please RSVP by this Friday, 10/9, to Jessica- 229-433-7039. Group participants will continue to meet for five consecutive Tuesdays through November 10th, 2020. We are asking all participants to wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, and keep a 6ft distance between one another. We are also limiting the amount of participants to make sure we're all safe.

𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 John Bennett, trustee of the Price-Campbell Foundation and owner of Bennett Trust & Elderly Law, awarded Hospice of South Georgia’s grief support program a grant donation of $20,000. The Price-Campbell Foundation provides grants to programs who make a positive difference in the community. Mr. Bennett explained, “The Price Campbell Foundation was created in 1983 by the late Mildred Price, a retired professor at Valdosta State College. She wanted to make a difference in her community, and 37 years later the Foundation continues to do so. The Foundation supports organizations that positively impact our community, Hospice of South Georgia was a worthy recipient of a grant this year.” Bereavement support is one of many unreimbursed programs at Hospice of South Georgia, and provides grief support to approximately 300 hospice affiliated and other additional community members at no cost. This program offers grief support for adults and children. Their Healing Hearts Youth Program was developed in 2019 to provide age appropriate grief support services to approximately 30 children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years annually. The grant funds will be used towards establishing and expanding grief support to Hospice of South Georgia’s patient families and other community members through a new bereavement library of children’s books, a new serenity garden at their hospice care center- Langdale Hospice House, and continued support for children through Camp Lean On Me and the Healing Hearts Youth program. One common myth about hospice and palliative care is that it's giving up hope. That's what Mrs. Mavis Keller felt when her husband first selected hospice care. What she found, however, was a human service that gives her just as much compassionate care and attention as her husband. Grief can be a difficult journey. We understand that losing a loved one is a heavy and lonely weight to carry for many of us. 𝘽𝙪𝙩, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚- 𝙒𝙚'𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙞𝙩. Our adult grief support group will begin again next Monday, January 11th at 5:30pm. It will be held in our administrative building- 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta 31602. Please RSVP by this Friday, 1/8, to Jessica- 229-433-7039. Group participants will continue to meet for five consecutive Mondays. We are asking all participants to wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, and keep a 6ft distance between one another. We are also limiting the amount of participants to make sure we're all safe.

One of our highlights at Langdale Hospice House is the library, lovingly funded and named by Bev Henderson's Doug G. Henderson III Memorial Foundation. It has provided entertainment in visitor's downtime with their loved one, and adds to the peaceful, home-like atmosphere. Bev has helped so many nonprofit organizations through this foundation in memory of her son, and we at hospice are so grateful for her contributions, not only to our hospice house, but the many generous donations over the years. She has always loved hospice, but her passion for it comes from her personal experience from our grief support program. She said, "I attended the 6 week grief support group, and this gave me the healing I needed by sharing my story. I looked forward to going to these meetings. It was exactly what I needed after Doug passed." Bev is also one of our amazing hospice home care nurses! Thank you, Bev, for your kind heart and generosity. ❤️

We're so excited to have members of our family back after a long year of COVID-19 precautions! Volunteers are the ❤️ of our organization, and we missed their support and smiling faces! They are vaccinated and ready to help! We can’t let #SocialWorkMonth end without sharing the important work they do for our Healing Hearts Youth program! Our grief specialist helps kids through the loss of a loved one by planning a safe place to work through their grief, all while having fun too- It’s Camp Lean On Me! Many of our dedicated social workers volunteer at this camp to help these kids cope and memorialize their loved ones.
