Howes & Howes will be keeping normal business hours for the foreseeable future. While the Courts are still open and holding hearings, a certain amount of contact is unavoidable. But most of what we do can be handled over the phone or email and do not necessarily require face-to-face meetings. Please consider all other contact options before coming to our office during this most concerning time.
Howes & Howes will be closed Wednesday (and potentially Thursday depending on conditions). If you need assistance, please contact us through our website. Please be safe out there.
Talk To A Lawyer Day will be held on January 21, 2019 at the Michigan City and La Porte Libraries. Members of our community may meet with attorneys in one-on-one sessions and seek legal guidance on a variety of issues at no cost.
Howes & Howes attorneys Shane Watson and Ralph Howes will be participating in "Talk to a Lawyer Day" at the La Porte County Library on Monday, January 15, 2018.
Talk to a Lawyer Day is a pro bono program sponsored by the Indiana State Bar Association and aims to provide free legal assistance to the underserved. It is held as an annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In addition to the La Porte County Library, numerous walk-in site locations are available across the state. Further, a statewide hotline for callers will be available by calling 1.800.266.2581 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spanish-speaking callers can call the same hotline from 3 to 5 p.m. for assistance.

Thank you Ralph Howes. All our candidates send out a great sign of appreciation for your hard and tireless work during the election. Chuck Watterson woke up to a 102 fever on election day. We called Ralph and he stepped in as our election board proxy. Ralph worked late into the night for 2 days to makes sure votes were counted properly. Ralph teamed with Nelson Picardo, who also did an outstanding job, to get the votes counted. With Ralph's 20 years experience as an election board member he was instrumental in getting the job done. THANK YOU again.
