What began as a hobby for Nancy Utley, better known as Hub Cap Annie, became one of the fastest growing businesses in America.
Annie’s interest in hubcaps started when her husband George Utley, a retired Memphis police captain, brought home hubcaps that were found lying on the side of the road, left by “pothole” victims. This interest became a hobby that grew into a real love affair with her hubcaps. As Annie says, “They are beautiful. They’re gorgeous!”
After five years of collecting hubcaps and making decorative wall plaques and clocks out of them, the idea for retailing was born! During a January carport sale Annie decided to sell some of the unwanted family junk…but certainly not the beautiful collection of hubcaps, which was fast filling the garage and backyard. As fate would have it, many of the people attending the carport sale saw the hubcaps and wanted to buy some of them. Well, you guessed it, Annie, being an astute business lady (a successful real estate broker for over 14 years), recognized that she had discovered a real need– a place where one might buy a replacement hubcap.
Annie researched the market place and found that pothole and theft victims had very little choice when searching for hubcaps and wheels for their cars. If their vehicle was not a late model car their only choice was to search local junkyards. On the other hand, if their lost hubcap was relatively new they usually could be special ordered from the new car dealer at an outrageous price and a long delay.
The first Hub Cap Annie store opened as a small retail outlet offering new and “used, but like new” hubcaps at 40% to 70% savings over the dealership’s prices. In fewer than 60 days Annie was forced to move her store to a much larger facility. Now, there are over 40 stores in some 16 states. Annie's children all have opened their own locations in Las Vegas, Boise and Horn Lake Mississippi which they have owned and operated for over 25 years! They are now selling not just hubcaps, but are into selling wheels and tires! Also now offering "WHEEL REPAIR"! Annie now offers..

It’s our “30th Annie-versary” y’all! Thirty years ago today I opened my Hub Cap Annie store in Las Vegas alongside with my cousin Lisa Faye Sanders, (we could write a book on our adventures, haha) who went on after 5 years to open her own store in Upland, Ca! My sister & Linda Utley Sanders & Bro-n-law Mike also came out with me for a year and helped me get off the ground running, then they moved on to Boise, Idaho where they’ve had their own Hub Cap Annie for over 25 years! I can’t thank you 3 enough for all your dedication, love and support! My brothers Dan and George Utley who helped me get ready for this adventure & have always been there for me thru thick and then! A BIG THANK YOU to all the great people of LAS VEGAS who have continually supported us! Thank you for trusting us with all your hubcap, wheel and tire needs all these years and hope to for many years to come!! Thank you also to all my family & friends that have always had our backs thru the good times & the bad! Y’all rock!! A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to my Mother, AKA, THE ORIGINAL HUB CAP ANNIE, Nancy Utley!! You & Daddy gave me a U-haul full of hubcaps, a Nissan truck & $10,000 and said go make something of your life! I hope I made you both proud! My employees, what can I say! Y’all are the BEST and love you all!! My accountant, Susan Eisenberg, no words can describe how I feel about you! I would not be here standing for sure without your wisdom and support and to every once in awhile knocking me upside my head when I was about to make a bad decision haha! And last but not least, I want to thank David Bowe, the hubcap/wheel master himself, my partner in crime, the glue, the rock, the Captain of this ship who works tirelessly every single day in the store to keep this ship sailing all these years and never complains!
