Dr. Baxter was Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in 1997, and specializes in sports-related injuries, arthroscopy, joint replacements, and trauma. He is licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. He maintains active affiliations with Southern Hills Medical Center, Williamson Medical Center, Hughston Clinic Orthopaedics Surgery Center, and Physicians Pavilion. He maintains courtesy privileges at Saint Thomas Hospital and referral privileges at Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Baxter was valedictorian of his high school class and the recipient of a Governor’s Scholarship Award. He obtained his undergraduate education at the University of Mississippi and Delta State University. He achieved his Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi, and did his general surgery internship in the Department of General Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. He also received his Orthopaedic training there, where he was the recipient of the Outstand Resident Teacher Award. He was also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Dr. Baxter is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Tennessee Medical Association, Tennessee Orthopaedic Society, and Nashville Medical Association. He has been in private practice in Nashville since 1995.
