Insurance tip: Before you start any clean up, document all the damage with photographs. Before any major repairs, try to protect your property until your insurance adjuster can review the damage and prepare an estimate.
Insurance tip for those displaced: designate someone as keeper of receipts for all expenses incurred. A claim for Additional Living Expenses (ALE) under your homeowner’s policy will go a lot smoother if you have your ducks in a row.
I’m no expert about this, but my AC guy says it is advisable to have the unit(s) turned off when the power is restored. Additionally, the electrical lineman I spoke to said he recommends same for all electrical appliances as well. Certainly don’t need fried electronics on top of all of this.

Here is the 10:00 PM advisory on Hurricane Delta from the National Hurricane Center. The forecast landfall location has been nudged to the west by about 10 miles with landfall still expected across Cameron Parish.
