We learned today that there is the possibility of a recent covid patient coming into the store so we have decided, for the safety of our workers and all of our customers that we love, to close the store for a thorough cleaning. But most importantly, it represents this special day; Norton Hurd's 104th birthday! For 104 years this man has graced us with his humor, wisdom and fighting spirit. Lucky are those who have gotten to sit and listen to him recount days gone past. Blessed are all of us here at Hurd's who have the pleasure of carrying on his legacy at the store. Cherished are the many memories we carry with us and continue to make with this beloved fellow.

With sorrowful hearts, we would like to share the passing of our founder and mentor, Mr. Norton Hurd on January 8, 2021. Words cannot fully describe the loss of this extraordinary man - a pillar of the Deltaville community, veteran of WWII, entrepreneurial businessman, devoted friend and dedicated family man. We will miss his tales of times gone past, his laughter and good humor, and most of all his giving, unrelenting spirit.
