COVID may have put a damper on our 2020 Korea Trip plans, however, the world keeps on turning and there is much excitement for the return of the global Hwa Rang Do gathering in 2021!
2 decades ago the Italian branch of the Hwa Rang Do family tree formed its roots under the leadership of Instructor Marco Mattiucci. This is a significant milestone, as Italy has become one of the biggest strongholds for Hwa Rang Do throughout the world. The numerous clubs, instructors, and students have embraced the Hwarang spirit and pursue their training with sincere dedication. In celebration of the people and success of the Italian members, the 2021 WHRDA Summer Events will be located in Rome, Italy!
Specific details related to venue, accommodations, costs, etc are being fine tuned at this time. We will update this webpage for more information as soon as it becomes available, however, the dates are locked so mark your calendars now!

Once the hwarang knights were a loyal and relentless fighting machine. The rules were simple: obey your king, follow your heart and you will gain immortality. But the standards of the 20th century have created special problems. Rather than enjoy life, they feel trapped in society. They are prisoners of their own art.
In the 20th century, where does the battlefield lie for the hwarang warrior? Where is the honor in dying for a country or an ideal? How does this dying breed of warrior survive in the concrete jungle where ethics and morality are forgotten concepts? There are wars and fueds among nations, but they are too politically contaminated by the needs of a few. Is there a war today that demands the human essence – his spirit, his honor, his loyalty? These warriors do not fight with M-16’s, .45-caliber pistols or submachine guns. Instead, they fight with the human spirit. They face their enemy with the extension of their soul, a sword, a bow, a knife – weapons which take skill to master. Tragically, the warrior is trapped in a society that deprives him of his dignity. People no longer respect and admire the warrior for his courage and bravery.

Bram een van de eerste en tevens jongste lid van Hwa Rang Do Hoogerheide. Binnenkort heeft hij examen en voor hem is dit Hwa Rang Do!
Hwa Rang Do betekent voor mij veel meer zelfvertrouwen, ik ben mij veel sterker gaan voelen en gezonder. Ik ben er ook creatiever door gaan voelen en heb er veel meer conditie en uithoudingsvermogen gekregen.
Bram vertelde ook dat hij zichzelf heel goed heeft leren verdedigen. Dit vind hij ook heel belangrijk dat hij zich veel rustiger voelt sinds hij is begonnen met Tae Soo Do. Zijn grootste wens is een groot Hwa Rang Do krijger te worden.
Iedereen die voor examen opgaat heel veel succes namens Hwa Rang Do Hoogerheide!
