This week for "Thoughtful Thursday" we are featuring SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center who's mission is promoting the welfare and adoption of companion animals, and nurturing loving, lifelong relationships between animals and people. Currently, their biggest need is wet kitten food, wet dog food, cat litter, litter boxes, and cat toys. Any of these items can be dropped off outside of iHeart Cleaning’s office in Centerville, or at SICSA directly. If you would prefer to donate monetarily you can do so at www.SICSA.org/give.

Happy Thursday! This week for "Thoughtful Thursday" we are featuring Dion Green and The Fudge Foundation. Derrick Fudge was enjoying a night out on Saturday, August 3, 2020 with his son, Dion Green, and other family members in Dayton’s Oregon District. That enjoyment ended when in the early hours of August 4 he was shot outside of a bar. Derrick Fudge is one of eight victims that lost his life that night during the Dayton mass shooting. In the year following the shooting, Dion turned his pain into strength by authoring the book “Untitled: Act of God. Act of Man” and founding The FUDGE Foundation to help individuals that are impacted directly and indirectly by mass shootings, violence, human trafficking, domestic abuse and other forms of trauma.
Because Dion helps survivors with burial expenses, recovery, etc. monetary donations are his biggest need. With spring coming and the weather warming up, we return to the season of fingerprint art and dog nose art on our glass doors and windows! A great way to keep those glass areas streak-free after cleaning is by using newspaper – crazy right? Newspapers are made from extremely densely packed fibers which mean that the fibers cannot separate which is very important. You see this unwanted separation first-hand when you use other materials like tissue paper or cloth to clean your glass. These materials leave a trail of lint across the glass when you use them. The absorbing nature of the newspapers also helps to absorb any oils and smudges that may be on the glass allowing for that crystal-clear finish.
Another area that may need some love as we head into warmer weather is that fireplace glass! You can easily clean off the soot that has built up throughout the winter by using ash! Just get some newspaper wet, dip it in the ash, and rub it on the inside of the glass in a circular motion and it will pull right up!

Spring is right around the corner! (I know what you’re thinking – “come on, who doesn’t know that??”)
One of the best parts about spring is all the fresh produce we’re able to start enjoying! One of the worst parts is the mess that foods like berries can make. A great way to remove those berry stains is to pour boiling water directly on them as soon as possible – it will take the stain out instantly! **Do this over a bathtub to avoid any mess. If your berry stain is the kind created from grapes that you drink 😉 you can sprinkle a little bit of table salt directly onto the stain and rub it out with cold water before treating with another product or laundering.
Another thing spring brings is not quite as enjoyable – ants in the house. A great way to rid your house of ants is likely a product that you have in your cupboard right now! Lining affected areas like countertops under windowsills, with cornmeal works wonders for any ant problems. You can even add a couple of mints leaves or peppermint essential oils to help.
