OFFICE UPDATE:
As of Tuesday evening, March 17th, the CDC has recommended that all routine eye care be deferred until further notice, in order to slow the transmission of COVID-19 through our community.
What does this mean?
1) If you are scheduled for an annual eye examination we will tentatively reschedule you starting April 6th.
2) If you need to replace glasses or contact lenses and need an extension on your prescription, please contact us and we will assist you in obtaining some until you can come in for a visit.
3) If you are running out of a medication, please contact us and we can transmit a refill electronically to your pharmacy.
4) If you have an ocular emergency we are, as always, available to help you at any time. Call or text 205-332-3935. If no one answers, please leave a message and we will return your call.
5) We will be allowing pick up of eye wear during this time, but please call or text 205-332-3935 when you arrive and we will have items delivered to your vehicle.
Thank you for your understanding,
Rachel Harvey, O.D.
To our patients,
Thank you for trusting us as your eye care provider. The health and safety of our patients has always been our top priority . As providers of medical eye care services, we maintain strict infection control policies and procedures. In response to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we have increased those efforts to include greater frequency of disinfection, frequent handwashing of our staff and spacing appointments as to maintain social distancing guidelines according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
We ask that if you are not feeling well, are immunocompromised, or have been around someone that may possibly have COVID-19, or have traveled out of the country in the last 14 days and have an appointment soon, please give us a call so that we may reschedule your appointment to prevent spread to others.
Wishing everyone good health during this time and always. We appreciate each and everyone of you.
Dr. Rachel Harvey

Is Too Much Screen Time Harmful?
According to The Vision Council, 72 percent of American parents report their children routinely engage in more than two hours of screen time per day.The rapid rise of myopia, or nearsightedness, worldwide has been linked to increased use of and exposure to electronic devices. See us at InSight Eye Group to discuss the best options to protect your child's vision.
Squash is a superfood that is good for your eyes and overall health. The vitamin A in squash plays an important role in vision in that it promotes good vision in low light and the antioxidant beta carotene aids in protection of the eye against age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.
