Say hello to October’s Pet of the Month 🐾 Mako is a 3 month old Shepard mix, adopted from DC Lucky Dog Rescue in August. Since he's not fully vaccinated, his time outside Insignia has been limited. In addition to potty training, he’s been working on sit, stay, and recall commands with all the extra time indoors. So far, life at Insignia has been plenty of fun!
Mako enjoys meeting fur and human neighbors on his trips to the rooftop dog park. He is also thankful for the big windows so he can keep an eye on the neighborhood from afar!
This is an exciting month for Mako, who will be taking his first road trip to Philly to meet his Uncle Mike and cousin Chubs the bulldog! He will also be starting Puppy Kindergarten at District Dogs Navy Yard!

“Having moved around a lot, I usually find that it is really fun to discover new spaces and meet new people through aerial arts. What drew me to the Navy Yard area is how calm the atmosphere is here, the proximity of Anacostia park and the bike trail, the diversity, and we have a whole trapeze school within walking distance!! I love aerial arts and recent started to dabble in silks at TSNY here in Navy Yard (it’s the huge white tent you see on M St!). If anyone feels stuck inside and bored with their exercise routine, silks is a great way to try something fun, have a great workout, and be socially distant. Feel free to contact me if you’d like a silks/workout buddy!”

Sarah, a native of Houston, TX, moved to DC in 2011 after graduating from SMU in Dallas. She moved to Insignia on M in 2019 and has loved living there ever since with her black cat, Captain. She works for IBM, and in her free time enjoys running around Navy Yard and frequenting El Bebe for their AWESOME tacos and margaritas (like a true Texan).
