ROLL TIDE from your friends and staff at Integrity Therapy Group!
Physical Therapists Greg Miles and Louann Schrock work with Chris as he recovers from knee surgery.
What kind of physical therapy comes after knee surgery?
Most rehabilitation programs for knee replacements usually include range of motion exercises, quadricep strengthening, gait training and daily life training exercises. It’s important to avoid straining or overworking the knee during your recovery period.
Remember you can choose where you have physical therapy. Give us a call and let us help you recover from surgery. 256-764-1442
We want to wish our Physical Therapists and Physical Therapy Assistants a very happy Physical Therapy month!!! They are our Power Rangers!

Can Physical Therapy Help Vertigo?
First let’s understand the signs and symptoms of Vertigo. Vertigo is a sense of rotation, rocking, moving, or spinning experienced even when someone is perfectly still. Position of the head or body can worsen the symptoms of vertigo, which include lightheadedness, nausea, or vomiting. When vertigo occurs, it may last for hours or even days before resolving.
What Causes Vertigo?
There are dozens of causes of vertigo, including:
Central nervous system issues such as stroke or tumor
Cervical spine issues
Vascular impairment
Meniere’s disease
Vestibular neuritis
Inner-ear infections
BPPV or “loose crystals”
Physical Therapy is the No. 1 treatment for Vertigo. It can often be completely resolved in one or two visits through use of the Epley Maneuver, a non-invasive treatment with very positive outcomes.
Epley’s, developed by Dr. John Epley in 1980, is used to treat Vertigo of the posterior canal of the ear. It works by allowing the free-floating crystals from the affected semicircular canal to be relocated by gravity back to the utricle, resolving vertigo approximately 90-95 percent of the time. The patient can often be taught to perform the procedure themselves.
Once Vertigo is resolved through appropriate treatment, patients often don’t need to come back for further treatment, but many will follow up with balance training tailored for inner-ear problems, such as eye tracking, balancing on various surfaces, and walking with head turns.
In helping you understand treatment we have attached a video of the Epley treatment we often use at Integrity Therapy Group.

It's that time of year again. Make sure to set those clocks forward an hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Enjoy the extra hour of daylight!
Now that it is getting warmer outside take a walk! Walking is a low impact cardio exercise with big results. It increases your circulation, lowers your blood pressure, and brings up your heart rate all of which help maintain a healthy weight and good heart health. Because it is low impact, it also supports and protects your joints.
Integrity Therapy Group is proud to announce that we offer LSVT BIG program to treat movement disorders related to Parkinson’s disease and other neurological disorders.
If you have been treated for Parkinson’s before this protocol is completely different. The program is designed to assist you in moving in more natural movement patters for transfers, gait/mobility and dexterity.
If you have not had previous physical therapy, please consider this program. Just ask your doctor to order P.T. for Parkinson’s, or call our office 256-764-1442 to find our more information on how we can help you.
