Our amazing volunteer, Fred Benson specializes in working with our hospice patients who are Veterans. Fred is a Korean War Vet who loves making those connections and sharing stories. He was featured in the Hood County News in May of 2020 when he and one of our precious hospice patients discovered they had served together on the same ship. What a gift for them both to be able to share a history at a critical time in life. This is what makes our volunteers so outstanding!

This morning here at Waterview The Point, we honored our veterans with a ceremony filled with prayer and song. We also acknowledged our military wives and widows. After our ceremony, we were treated to a drive-by parade organized by our friends at Interim Health. Thank you to our veterans for your sacrifice, your bravery, and the example you set for us all. Today was an awesome day! With the help of Granbury PD, and the Granbury Fire Department, Interim Healthcare and Visiting Angels gathered a small cadre of decorated cars and drove through several nursing homes, assisted living and independent living homes. Thanks to Tammy at the Waterview, Trish was able to help residents decorate the trees at 377 near the water treatment plant. Thanks to TexDot for allowing us to do this on their property. We ALL can use a bit of early cheer!!!
Loved having the opportunity to put up our traditional tree at the Courtyards today! Even with all the necessary precautions and safety measures, decked out in N95’s, it was worth it to think of the cheer it will bring to the residents during this unique time. ❤️

The Senior Angel Tree Project for 2020 is in full swing!!! Drop by the Hood County Senior Center Monday thru Friday from 8am to 3pm and choose an angel from the trees. We have a RECORD number of Angels this year. 113 Angels to shop for!! These are Meals on Wheels and Congregate clients. Call Crystal for details. (817)573-5533. Please come to our front doors and ring the doorbell. We are still closed to the public, but will gladly let you in to get an Angel. Gifts should be returned WRAPPED by December 10th.

There is constantly new information being gathered about dementia and care. Teepa stays on top of that new information and shares it out in a way that anyone connected to dementia can understand why this is happening and how to support those living with brain change in a more positive and respectful way.

Amanda has worked in accounting at LGMC for over five years and was recently promoted from Staff Accountant to Financial Analyst.
Her favorite memories come from volunteering at events, including many of the local charity golf tournaments.
Amanda is part of our Blue Crew and Employee Engagement Committee and participates in the New Hire Buddy Program.

City Working with Churches, Others to Open Warming Centers, Shelters
As rolling blackouts are continuing throughout the area, the City of Granbury has begun working with local area churches, non-profits and others to open “warming centers” and shelters throughout the area.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, City officials recommend calling ahead to check on the availability of open slots and any other regulations that may apply with the warming centers and shelters. Also, all Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 restrictions will be in effect at all locations.
Those seeking shelter should bring their masks and blankets. Those bringing pets must keep them on leashes or in kennels. The following locations are open to Granbury and Hood County residents:
• Lake Granbury Conference Center (621 E. Pearl St, Granbury, TX 76048, 682-936-1200) -- 250 open slots, warming center only, bathrooms available, open till 8 p.m., citizens welcome to bring their own food and drinks, will be showing family-friendly movies.
• Granbury Church of Christ (1905 W. Pearl St., Granbury, TX 76048, 817-573-2613) -- 100 open slots, warming center, food is available.
• Pecan Baptist Church (7178 Fall Creek Hwy, Granbury, TX 76049, 682-205-1565) – 200 open slots, warming center.
• First Christian Church of Granbury (2109 W. US Hwy 377, Granbury, TX 76048, 817-573-5431) – 50 open slots, shower facilities available (*bring your own showering implements and blankets).
• Somervell County Exposition Center (202 BO GIBBS BLVD, W. Hwy 67, Glen Rose, TX 76043, 254-897-4509) Shelter with cots, must bring all blankets
• Granbury High School gymnasium – (2000 W. Pearl St, Granbury, TX, 76048, 817-408-4600) warming center
To be admitted to any warming center or shelter, patrons must:
1. Abide by health guidelines by wearing a mask and social distancing.
2. Pets are permitted but must be on a leash or in a carrier. No aggressive animals will be allowed.

Glen Rose Nursing and Rehabilitation is looking for folks who want to get into the Nursing profession, The State has given us a waiver to train folks on the job and test later to become a certified nurses assistant, test are in Spanish as well. If you know someone who is interested in starting as a c.n.a. And possible work your way up to Med aide or nurse.
