September 19 at 8:50 PM · Chattanooga, TN · Very well attended general membership meeting today at the International Towing Museum in Chattanooga, TN today! Thank you to everyone who took time out of your schedule on a Saturday to attend this very important meeting. Today was the election of the new Board of Directors as well as a vote of the membership on new by-laws. Both of these items will not take affect until October 15, 2020. A press release will go out very soon. Thank you for the hospitality by the towing museum. We support and promote this organization, if you have not checked into it, please do so! This is the only one in the world and our towing history!

To Our Members, On Tuesday September 1, 2020 Jeffrey Godwin, 1st Vice President of ITRHFM, opened discussion with the Executive and General Board members pertaining to the upcoming Executive Board elections that were scheduled to be held in October of this year and the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Having not been able to meet in person at all this year, and also having to postpone the Annual Membership Meeting that was scheduled for October 11, 2020, Mr. Godwin made a motion that would suspend the rules according to our by-laws on elections and meeting requirements. Our by-laws follow Robert's Rules of Order and there is a provision in Robert's Rules of Order that allows for the suspension of the rules when required other than for specific circumstances where it would be prejudicial. After discussion was opened to the Executive and General Board on suspending the meeting and election rules in our by-laws, Mr. Godwin made the motion, it was seconded by Mr. Gratzianna and our board was in favor. As voted, the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum will resume with Executive Board elections being held in 2021 and the General Board elections resuming the following year. As a member, you will receive an Annual Membership Report later this year that will keep you informed of Museum business for 2020. The board and/or executive board will also continue meetings as required to manage the business of the ITRHFM during this period. We do appreciate all our members and your support through this uncertain time. We thank those of you who have reached out to the museum to see how we were doing and thank all who have become new members or who have renewed memberships. Your support keeps us going. The gift shop, Hattie’s on Holmes which is named after Hattie Hackett Holmes, who was the wife of Ernest Holmes Sr., inventor of the tow truck. It was through an inheritance Hatti received, that she assisted the growth of her husband’s mechanic shop, that lead to the invention of the tow truck in 1916.
