Otoño Silva, MD, founder of Interventional Orthopedics of Washington in Bellevue, Washington, is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Following this, he completed a specialized fellowship in Interventional Orthopedics with a focus on regenerative therapies, including prolotherapy, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Stem Cell Therapy for orthopedic/musculoskeletal applications.
He has a passion for professional development, continued education, teaching, research, and developing a partnership with his patients to work towards their optimal health with an integrative approach.
Before his formal medical training, Dr. Silva earned a bachelor of science degree in nutrition and trained and worked as a massage therapist. This training, along with a personal regenerative medicine treatment experience changed his life and inspired him to enter the medical field. His skills as a body worker have enhanced his hands-on physical exam skills as a physiatrist and interventional orthopedic specialist. In addition, this has taught and enabled him to incorporate a holistic approach for patient care into his practice. As a part of this holistic approach he utilizes IMS / dry needling for diagnostic purposes and pain relief for patients, appropriately refers his patients for chiropractic care, physical therapy, nutritional planning and hormone balance as needed to comprehensively address their health and well-being.
At Interventional Orthopedics of Washington, Dr. Silva creates a balance between a natural approach and traditional medicine. Rather than mask your symptoms with pain medication and steroid injections that will contribute to degeneration of your joints and tissues, his goal is to diagnose the underlying causes of your pain. This allows him to develop a plan to address the source of your pain and assist in healing and restoration of a healthy, potentially
pain free, active lifestyle. He achieves this by utilizing science-backed, groundbreaking regenerative medical therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell treatments that harness and bolster your body’s own healing abilities.
Dr. Silva continues to expand his skills and knowledge by conducting research in interventional orthopedics to advance the field of regenerative medicine. He also teaches courses for the Interventional Orthopedics Foundation (IOF) around the country to share his advanced knowledge and pass these skills on to other physicians. IOF has scheduled Dr. Silva to host and teach the Shoulder Injection Course in the Bellevue Clinic in September 2019. He and his team welcome you to Interventional Orthopedics of Washington to develop and implement a plan to reduce your pain, restore your function, and recover the quality of life that you deserve.
