On of our employees brought in a newspaper from 1963 and left it in the break room. As I looked at it today I couldn’t believe the price of tires from Sears during that time. It made me think about just how much prices have gone up over the years on all consumer goods, including pools. I remembered a contract for a pool we built in 1989 for a 20x43 in ground pool. I took a picture of that contract today and cropped out the customer’s information. If you look close, that pool was $12,616.25.😳. That also included an automatic cleaner, winter cover, automatic chlorinator, and startup chemicals 😳😳.
That pool is now 31 years years old, and we still take care of it for the same customers for whom we built it.
If we built that same pool today, it would close to 60k. It’s hard to believe that is even possible, but so much has changed through the years.
