Trying to find rugs that coordinate but aren't too "matchy-matchy." What do we think of this living room/hallway combo? Even though the blue-green of the runner's border doesn't exactly match the field of the dining room rug, I think the rust accents and overall golden hue bring it all together. It works (from both the light and the dark sides)!
Here's a tip: always walk around a rug when it is on your floor. Due to the nap of the pile, it will look different colors from different angles. If you're trying to match rugs in a different room, sometimes you don't need a new rug. Sometimes the rug just needs a little flip.

This #basementreno turned out great in this #gaithersburg townhouse. Luxury vinyl plank flooring was installed to make it less basement-y. The support beams were exposed and painted instead of encased in drywall to add visual interest and much needed height. The walls have this very neutral color with the tiniest hint of green that is picked up in this aubergine stunner of a rug. As you can see, these types of rugs can really add a colorful punch to a neutral basement!
This rug and even this house can be yours! It's been my project over the last few months. Keeping tiny finger prints off the wall has been a challenge. 😂

Our rugs have found their final resting spots in some very unusual places, including in universities, theatres, embassies and government buildings, but I think my favorite spot was this MRI center in Houston. Rugs really do make the room!

On this first day of 2021, looking back at the last year, I'm amazed at just how lucky and privileged we have been, both in life and in business. We're happy and healthy (knock on wood), and our rug shop is thriving.
The pandemic has not impacted us as much as other retailers because we have the most amazing customers. Folks have been coming out of the woodwork to get their rugs and even their neighbors' rugs cleaned. We've been getting more online reviews than ever, including from customers who I know had to ask their grandchildren to help them on the computer. We even had a lovely client reach out to share the professional pics of her home from when she sold her house because our rugs look great in them. (Thank you NOLA Real Estate Marketing and Haley!) PS - Doesn't this rug look amazing?
Anyway, when I look back at the last year, I'm very grateful and also very hopeful. Because if we can make it in the last year, we can do anything...including finding you a rug if redecorating is your New Year's resolution. Happy 2021, Everyone.

When your client is in another state, and you've never seen their home, but you know what rugs they already have, you use photoshop to fill in the gaps! We have to play musical rugs, pulling some rugs from some rooms and putting them into others in order to find a way to get everything in the open LR/DR to coordinate while also keeping the number of rugs needing to be purchased to a minimum. We also have to remember what the light side vs. what the dark side of these rugs look like and where they will be placed in relation to one another. It's a mental gymnastics, but thankfully, when my kids aren't screaming, I can kinda do it. What do we think? Do these match without being too matchy-matchy?
