Dr. James Wang (pronounced Wong) is one of a unique group of board-certified podiatrists who have completed a four-year residency focused on surgical and traumatological conditions of the foot and ankle. Fewer than one percent of all podiatrists have trained this extensively.
A graduate of Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Wang went on to complete residency and fellowship programs at the University of Pennsylvania. With an emphasis on major traumatological and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, Dr. Wang’s residency included a one-year rotation in general and vascular surgery plus eight months of plastic and reconstructive surgery. His fellowship focused on limb reconstruction and deformities of the foot and ankle.
Dr. Wang is highly regarded for pioneering minimal incision surgical techniques in sports medicine. These techniques, which allow patients to walk almost immediately, may be associated with quicker, less painful recoveries, whereas present technology forces patients to be immobilized and non-weight bearing for extended periods of time. The treatment of hallux valgus (bunion correction) is a primary area where this is evident.
Dr. Wang has published peer-reviewed papers in podiatric and orthopedic journals demonstrating how painful deformities corrected with minimal incisions allow for near-immediate walking and hence, more rapid healing. He lectures nationally and internationally on the treatment of foot and ankle deformities.
Dr. Wang’s practice focuses on all areas of podiatric medicine. He specializes in deformities and injuries of the foot, ankle and lower leg.
