While there are numerous versions of the Club sandwich, the basic assembly is a toasted triple-decker with ham, turkey, lettuce, and tomato. However, the first recipe had two slices of white bread, turkey, ham, pickles (two), tongue, and an “artistic touch of mustard.” It was also copyrighted.
