James Irby has been in the full time practice of law since 2003. Prior to opening JAMES IRBY, P.C., James practiced with the Athens based law firm of Sherrill, Batts and Shipman, L.L.C. and with a law firm in Florence.
James is the attorney for the Lauderdale County Board of Education. James represents the Decatur City Board of Education in the areas of Special Education law. James Irby, P.C. also represents individuals charged with having committed crimes as well as the areas of personal injury and plaintiff law.
Prior to engaging in full time law practice, James served as Superintendent of Education for the Athens City Board of Education, the Roanoke City Board of Education, as Principal of Guntersville High School, Assistant Principal of Austin High School in Decatur and as Band Director of the Sheffield High School band, in Sheffield.
