Dry eye is one of the most common eye conditions, affecting millions of people every year. Itchiness and irritation are some of the most recognizable symptoms of dry eye. It can be tempting to rub your eyes for relief, but it only causes damage to them. You may notice a mucus discharge around your eyes if you have a more advanced stage of dry eye syndrome. With dry eye, you’re also more likely to experience light sensitivity. Although your eyes are dry, you may notice your eyes becoming more watery. This is your body overcompensating for the lack of hydration in your eyes. If any of the above symptoms sound familiar, give us a call! Our doctors can come up with a treatment plan for you that includes preventative measures.
Thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review, Scott! We are thrilled that you loved your experience here 😊 "Great service with friendly people. Excellent equipment and Dr. Traynor is always willing to take the time to answer questions."

Our doctors can discuss your options with you and help you make a decision!

The leading cause of blindness can be surprising... 40-50% of blindness and visual impairment is caused by diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy involves chronic high blood sugar that damages retinal blood vessels. Luckily, this condition can be fought with a healthy eating and exercise and correctly taking medicines.
When cleaning your lenses, it is important to use a soft, microfiber cloth to wipe them. Avoid using materials like tissue, paper towel, toilet paper, or the fabric of your shirt to clean your glasses. While these materials may seem soft, they are actually course enough to cause minor scratches in your lenses!
October is National Blindness Awareness Month πŸ‘οΈπŸ‘“ It is estimated that nearly 2.2 billion people suffer from some form of blindness or visual impairment. This includes those who wear contact or glasses to be able to see! What's shocking is that half of these cases could have been prevented or have been left unaddressed 😧 Make sure you are coming in for your annual eye exams to prevent and treat worsening visual impairment.

The eyes are the window to the soul... and the door to the nasolacrimal system. Your eyes, nose and throat are all connected by this same "plumbing". For this reason, it is crucial that you avoid touching your eyes as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses. If you must touch them, make sure to give your hands a thorough washing first! πŸ§ΌπŸ‘
Over 3 million US adults have glaucoma... and the National Eye Institute estimates that this number will more than double by 2030. Without regular eye exams, glaucoma is hard to detect as there are no symptoms. Once vision loss occurs, it is permanent. According to glaucoma.org, those at higher risk include people of African, Asian, and Hispanic descent. Other high-risk groups include people over 60, family members of those already diagnosed, diabetics, and people who are severely nearsighted. Regular eye exams are especially important for those at higher risk for glaucoma, and may help to prevent unnecessary vision loss. Dr. Traynor fellowship-trained in glaucoma and specializes in the medical and surgical care of glaucoma. Schedule an appointment with him if any of the above risk factors apply to you!

Did you know that humans can see more shades of green than any other color? Our retinas can detect wavelengths of light in a range called the visible spectrum. Green lies in the middle of this spectrum, where our perception is best. See how many shades of green you can distinguish on your next nature walk! πŸƒ 🌳
