I've addressed this before in earlier posts, and as the election approaches, I thought I'd touch on the topic again. In the sixties, when I first became aware of the news channels, reporting the news was about reporting in an unbiased fashion, and the most respected news reporters would reject stories that were clearly more than just reporting the news. Today, bias and sensationalism have sadly entered into the fray so that "news sells". Social media presents what are ostensibly verified facts that are sadly anything but. And the worst part of this is the common stance that if you don't believe what I believe, than you must be uninformed or just stupid. I hope someday to see civility return to politics, that we start thinking for ourselves again, that we realize that we are all in this together, and finally, we live in one of the greatest societies in the world; let's not screw it up.
