We pulled this tangle of roots out of a sewer line today. Yeah, it smells as bad as you would guess.
First one of these for the season. I know its been warm, but Sunday and Monday are going to be snowy, windy, and cold. Make sure you unhook all hoses and drain your lawn irrigation systems if you have been using them. And as always, wash your hands!
Homeowners sent out the guard to see if we was legit.
Please, please, please, do not flush the wipes! We had our first call yesterday to clear a sewer that was plugged with wipes. $320 later, they are open and flowing. Throw the wipes in a bin after use and send them out with your garbage. I realize that the label says they are flushable.....they are not.
I appreciate all of you for keeping us busy! While you are home, now is the time to get those little nagging issues handled. Drippy faucets and running toilets are usually left until someone gets "around to it". If no one has gotten "around to it", let us know. We will be happy to get "around to it" 😁😁
New year’s resolution, keep our friends updated with what we do and maybe some explanations of how to prevent it from happening in the future. I’ll start with the precautions we take....because you never know.
First photo, the blue stuff attacked all the seals in the toilet tank and a complete rebuild was in order. Second photo, customer decided for a little extra money, we installed a new comfort height elongated toilet that was much more practical for the homeowner.
Got lucky on this one. Customer cut their own tile and couldn’t figure out how to install the new single handle valve behind the wall. Wall was open in the laundry room behind the shower. New valve installed and we saved the tile with a remodel plate. Everybody happy!
We don’t guess and we don’t try to sell you more than you need. Our video inspection camera can show you exactly what the problem is and we can make a plan from there. You can see the roots in the sewer line here. We showed the customer this video and let them decide how much of the sewer line to dig up and replace.
That is ice. Frozen solid. If you haven’t unhooked your hoses by now, it’s probably too late. New wall hydrants on both sides of the house for this lady.
Customer called and said she had good cold water pressure but no hot water pressure. First thing to check is the water heater. We found this mess on the cold water inlet to her water heater. Swap out the connection and she was on her way! 2 other companies told her she had to replace her 4yr old heater.
While we were looking for the customer’s leak, he casually mentions, I was in the maintenance field my entire career. I’m guessing he was probably a caulking salesman. He got a new shower valve and a toilet rebuild with a new shut off.
Homeowner hired a "plumber" to run a new ice maker line. "Plumber" drills into the drywall and thinks he's drilling into wood framing but he can't seem to get through it. Next, he hears a hissing sound and smells gas. Gas gets shut down and the homeowner calls us. We cut the drywall for access and see this. Not only was it expensive to fix, these two could have been killed. Always hire a professional the first time. The life you save may be your own.
100 year old plumbing? Yeah we do that. Kitchen and laundry run through some ancient cast iron piping and backing up. We traced the pipe to this spider web of goodness. A quick cable to clear a ton of kitchen grease and we are on our way to the next one.
I promised the homeowner that I would post this. If you look closely, you’ll notice the previous “plumber” used ribbon, like the kind you would use to decorate a present to anchor 2 pipes together. Nothing but the best for our customers! We were hired to go in and re-plumb everything the other guy did. Please, always hire a licensed professional. This ended up costing them double plus all the drywall repair.
We have gone through a few dozen couplers and about 20’ of pipe already this week. It doesn’t seem to be letting up either.
