Jean has a psycho-developmental approach to counseling. She focuses on the unique needs and strengths of the child and family, and their resiliency factors. Therapy includes developing relationships as well as cognitive-behavioral skill building.
Jean assesses the needs of the whole child, including needs for emotional regulation, sensory integration and social skills. In milieu therapy and in consultation, she emphasizes generalization of learning to the child’s home, school and community. She coordinates with the child’s team of helpers, from psychiatrists, SLP’s, OT’s, and teachers to relatives, friends and childcare providers.
