Unfortunately, we aren’t doing our Job to protect each other and ourselves and now we have overrun our hospitals again. Surgical cases are on hold in these counties because there are limited resources remaining. If you knew there was a way to prevent the disease would you do it? Well there is. Wear a mask. Stay at home. Yes it’s annoying. Yes we all want to go out. Younger patients are now coming in with severe cases requiring the ventilator and ICU. So the excuse of, “ it’s not that bad. I’ll just catch it,” isn’t a good plan. Please. For you, your parents, your friends, wear a mask, stay home. https://www.google.com/amp/s/dfw.cbslocal.com/2020/06/25/governor-abbott-executive-order-suspends-elective-surgeries-texas/amp/ DFW.CBSLOCAL.COM Governor Abbott Issues Executive Order Expanding Hospital Capacity, Suspends Elective Surgeries In 4 Texas Counties

Many people have questioned the cdc “new” guidelines on surface spread. In fact the evidence didn’t change as spread by touching a surface and then your nose/mouth/eyes IS possible. The covid numbers are seemingly leveling out. Hospitals are now at an adequate occupancy level that it is appropriate to have a surgery that previously was postponed either due to fear or hospital precaution. At my hospital, we check every surgery patient prior to rule out corona. We skill wear masks and check the temperature of every entering person. I think it is a safe time to go ahead and have those surgeries patients have been holding off on. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/public-health/2020/05/27/gov-greg-abbott-urges-texans-to-have-surgery-they-need-soon-while-hospitals-not-slammed-by-coronavirus/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Coronavirus+Update%3A+Outdoor+sports+in+Texas+allowed+spectators%2C+Dallas+County+sees+small+uptick+in+cases&utm_campaign=CoronavirusUpdate_05282020 DALLASNEWS.COM Gov. One of my specialties is a lesser known condition of the stomach that causes chronic nausea. The condition involves damage to the nerves of the stomach leading to delayed emptying. This leads to chronic nausea, vomiting, bloating and fullness. Whereas a normal stomach empties in 4 hours, the delayed stomachs can still contain 50-90% of a meal at 4 hours.
