Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is an emerging field where horses help engage people in emotional growth and learning. It is experiential in nature and individuals learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses and processing feelings, behaviors and patterns. EAP and EAL utilize horses, dynamic and powerful living beings, who have an amazing power to heal and to teach. Horses provide immediate, honest, observable feedback in response to our behaviors and interactions. Horses are sensitive to nonverbal stimulus, which makes them astute therapeutic guides. They are social beings that bring us insight into group dynamics and the individual roles we play in our daily lives. Together, Jennie and Carol are providing equine assisted therapy and learning sessions for individuals, families, or small groups, as well as continuing education units for psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and medical doctors. Equine-assisted Psychotherapy can aid in strengthening teams, combatting stress or trauma, and helping an individual or group grow in ways only made possible with an experiential process.
