Since it’s leg day around here...Full squats produce greater overall muscle development in the lower body, optimally hitting the glutes, hamstrings, and quads for superior growth compared to partial squat. In order to minimize strain on the lower back, go all the way down so that your hips are well below your knee. Full squats keep you honest and require a strong lower back. Did 2020 derail your fitness plans? Like many, last year was a wrecking ball leaving most of us trying to put the pieces back together. As a result much of what we had planned for last year took a back seat to what needed to get done. If you are planning on putting your fitness goals back on the priority list know that You don't need to take the whole staircase, just focus one step at a time. Start by adding in little by little, maybe it's adding cardio into your routine or planning on a dedicated workout schedule all together. Start with a plan, evaluate each week and see where you can improve. Did you make it to all of your dedicated training sessions/cardio goals? If not this week try and hit it 100% next week. Make it a self challenge to check that off the list. Developing these habits take time, and your body will adjust week by week. We couldn’t be more proud of you and the many lives you impact daily. #vickisjourney Vicki Johnson 17 hrs · Today is a VERY SPECIAL DAY....5yrs ago today I started my career as a Personal Trainer at Jesse James Fit.....after being disabled in a wheelchair for almost 16.5 and was told I’d never walk again. This is where my fitness journey started, in a wheelchair, in 2011. From November 2011-September 2012 I lost ALL MY WEIGHT...310lbs. Then from October 2012 until March 28th 2016 I underwent 2 massive leg reconstructions with double knee replacements, another leg surgery to try and correct a contractor bend in the right leg, some skin removal that was medically needed for surgeries on legs, studied to be a certified personal trainer and more. It was a very painful hard long road but NOTHING was going to stop me from being the BEST VERSION OF MYSELF!!! Is it easy? HELL NO, if it was we’d all be fit & fabulous......it was blood, sweat, tears, pain, sleepless nights from my legs being in massive pain but I never let it show. I showed up, unleashed this BEAST and did what I had to do. I still have some surgeries that are needed & necessary but I need to finish removing some loose skin so it doesn’t put the extra wear and tear on my legs like it’s doing now. I hope and plan with Gods will to raise and earn enough money to complete my transformation and have the best quality of life for these bionic legs of mine by the end of 2021. I was saved for a reason in that horrific accident in 1999 and it wasn’t until I rolled through those doors in FloMo at JJF when I finally understood, totally understood with all my heart & soul....why. My life changed that very day unknowingly when I brought my daughter there to get fit for her cheer profession. WHAT A BLESSING it has been to be a part of the JJF STAFF & FAMILY. There are many great gyms out there truly but none of them was family or truly meant FAMILY when they said, you’re family here. Not one time did I ever feel out of place or unwanted when I was 445lbs. They knew my name, greeted me with a smile, went out of their way to help me, figured out how to train me without jeopardizing my safety, pushed me beyond my comfort zone, showed me passion and so much more. That’s when I fknew I had found my family and called JJF HOME!!!! Now, I’m giving back by helping others who feel they don’t have a will or way. YES YOU DO!!! If I can do it from a wheelchair, you can do it....NO EXCUSES! Thank you for an amazing ride these past 10 years as a client and now as a trainer. Love you all!!!
