Growing older may involve a lot of transitions: needing help, having to move to an assisted living, going to the hospital with an illness, facing dementia or a terminal diagnosis. In my twenty years in Geriatrics (taking care of older people), I have learned that people need help with these transitions, both the elderly people themselves, and the family that will care for them.
I have spent twenty years being the guide to elderly people going through all these transitions, and their families. I can review hospital or doctors’ records and explain to you what they mean. I can describe what the different options are for care, and talk with you about your situation and which might be best for you, and why. If you are developing dementia and your family is scared or angry (because dementia is very frustrating), then I can guide them through caring for you, or finding a place for you to live and be cared for.
