Quick Tip: Indoor air quality is always important, but with all the smoke and ash it is especially vital to check your air filters. Visually look at any filters in air cleaners and Air Conditioning units, both at home and at work. Don't forget the engine and cabin filters in your car!
Quick Tip: Now that most of the smoke has left the area, it is the perfect time to change the filter in your HVAC units, your car cabin filter, and room air filters. Smoke not only collects in these filters and makes them less efficient, but you need clean filters for the best air quality and health.
Quick Tip: While employees are out during COVID19 or for summer vacations, now is the perfect time to deep clean offices, update restrooms, and declutter to help keep spaces cleaner in the future. Update restrooms with touchless water faucets (they use less than half the water of regular faucets, touchless soap, and Dyson air dryers (which use less than half the electricity as conventional dryers). Closing in eaves, new siding with fiber cement boards, landscaping with rock or pavers, or fire-resistant roofing materials could save your property in a fire. Look into adding brick, concrete, slate, tile, or other materials to your existing building. These materials may also add insulation against heat and cold as an added bonus!

Windy days can be irritating, however we need wind for the pollination of plants such as alders, oaks and grasses. We also need the wind to help spread nutrients in our gardens as leaves and other debris fall and are brought to rest in areas where they can decompose into the soil. Be sure to only remove leaves from gutters, drains, and walkways...but leave the leaves on lawns and gardens for natural mulch and insulation from the cold.
