Meet Oyster! This girl has had a rough start in life but is now in the right place, looking for her forever home ❤️

Meet Oyster! This adorable 4-year-old girl has had a rough journey, but she is resilient and looking forward to a great life with her forever family. Oyster was found as a stray in Louisiana, and our great friends at St. Tammany were able to get her off the streets. She waited for her owner to come and reclaim her, but her previous owner never showed up. Upon further testing, our friends found out Oyster had contracted heartworm disease. Fortunately it is treatable, so we transferred her here to the beach to give her a fresh start. Luckily for her new adopters, the amazing people from St. Tammany Parish have sponsored her heartworm treatment! Now all Oyster needs is a loving family to give her a great home. She is a pro snuggler and loves to dress up in festive bandanas. If you would like to meet this great dog or any of our other adoptable animals, come visit the VBSPCA.

Redd is a sweet 10-year-old senior. He is a very friendly and docile older boy who loves to hang out with his human friends. Redd has not been around children, but he is currently housed with his feline friend Kovu and seems to enjoy other animals company. If you would like to meet Redd or any of our other felines, please make an appointment to visit the VBSPCA today!

Meet Alfie aka Ralphie! This handsome two-year-old guy lived with dogs and cats in his last home and was handled daily. Ralphie's favorite snack is orange slices but he also enjoys a wide array of fruits and veggies. Ralphie's previous owners told us that he would do best in a home with children 8 years and up due to his sometimes shy nature and that he loves snuggling under fleece blankets. You may have noticed that Ralphie doesn't have as much hair as other guinea pigs, but don’t worry, he is supposed to look that way! Since he does not have as much hair, he will need to be protected from the cold and given occasional baths to keep his skin healthy. Please visit the VBSPCA if you think that you would be a good match for this sweet little guy.

Meet Harley, an 8-year-old Carolina dog! Once he gets to know you, he loves to give kisses and wants all of your attention. Harley is crate and potty trained. He can be protective of his food and a little sensitive when touched on his head and paws, so we require that he go to an adult-only home. Come visit Harley at the shelter!

Boots is an older lady who prefers a quiet and mellow household. She is described as a lap cat who has lived with older children and a dog, she enjoys brushing and mouse toys. Boot's adoption fee is discounted 50% in honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

My youngest daughter Emmi on a recent trip with her older sister to Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach. Great place to visit for kids and kids-at-heart. Chickens, ponies, bunnies, goats, horses, cows,, and loads of fun!

This beautiful eight month old girl is Shelly. She came to us from our transfer partners over at PETA, and she is ready for her forever home. She loves to cuddle and is constantly purring. Our staff has discovered that if you pick her up, she loves to give you a huge hug! Shelly is a very small cat and would be perfect for someone living in an apartment. If you are looking for a sweet companion, please stop and visit with this adorable girl.

Queenie has never lived inside a home, but she hopes she can find a loving home of her own very soon! The two year old Labrador Retriever came to the VBSPCA after PETA rescued her from a life of neglect. She was left alone outside and wound up with heartworm disease. Now that we are treating Queenie's condition, all she needs is a fresh start. Come meet Queenie today!

Scarlett is a six-year-old Boxer mix who loves running, playing outside, and cuddling. She is housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained - all she needs is a new home! Unfortunately her last family was unable to take care of her and had to bring her to the VBSPCA. Scarlett loves other dogs, cats, and children, but we recommend any kids in the home be ages six and older since she can get a little excited. Come meet this good girl at the shelter today!
