Dr. McCloskey graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and subsequently completed a pediatric residency at the University of Washington and Children's Hospital in Seattle. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Dr. McCloskey was an attending cardiologist at Children's Hospital in Seattle and assistant professor at the University of Washington, following which he was instrumental in establishing the Mary Bridge Pediatric Heart Center in 1997. He served as the first medical director of the Heart Center until 2001. Dr. McCloskey is the past president of the American Heart Association, Pierce-Metro Division (1996-1999) and is currently a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. He has a special interest in preventive cardiology and established the only dedicated pediatric exercise labs in the Pacific Northwest at both Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital in Seattle; he has recently established the first pediatric lipid clinic in the region.Dr. McCloskey is an avid bicyclists and has cycled throughout the Pacific & Mountain regions, Hawaii, Thailand, Peru and Italy.
