To our valued clients:
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we continue to serve you to the best of our ability during these trying times. Please know that our utmost concern is the safety of our clients, staff, and pets as we continue to navigate the ever changing health concerns and restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. As such, we ask for your cooperation in reviewing the following guidelines and practicing them when you visit our office:
- If you are exhibiting flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, or runny nose, have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for coronavirus in the past 14 days or are yourself positive for coronavirus, you have been instructed to self-isolate by health officials, or you have traveled out of the local area in the past 14 days, we ask that you either re-schedule your visit or if that is not possible, alert our staff so we can take the necessary measures to safely treat your pet.
- When you arrive at our office, we ask that you please call the main office line (607-766-7387) and choose either option 7 to check in for your appointment or option 0 to speak directly to a receptionist if you have arrived to pick up medications or food. We ask that you remain in your vehicle unless instructed otherwise to limit the traffic inside the office, and let us know the number of the space your vehicle is parked in.
- If picking up medications or food, we ask that you call ahead whenever possible and allow at least 24 hours ( 1 business day) for your medications or food to be ready for pick-up. A receptionist will check you out for your purchase over the phone and your purchase will either be brought out to your car or be placed on a table just inside the entrance for you to pick up and return to your vehicle.
- Please understand that in order to comply with state regulations, all appointments at this time will be “curbside appointments.” When our staff is ready for your pet, a technician will come to your vehicle. If possible, please have ready a written record of any problems or concerns you would like to have addressed by the veterinarian at the appointment, or let the technician know this information when they receive your pet. Please also let the technician know the best phone number you may be reached at during the appointment, and remain in the lot until the end of the appointment. Your pet will then be taken into an exam room or treatment area, and a full exam will be performed by the veterinarian. The veterinarian will then call you from the office to discuss pertinent history and any concerns they may find on the exam, as well as any additional testing or treatments that may be recommended. Once the appointment is complete, a receptionist will discuss payment over the phone, and then your pet will be brought back to your vehicle. We understand that this process is not ideal, and while we would much rather allow you into the hospital with your pet to meet with the veterinarian and staff, state regulations currently only allow exceptions for immediate emergencies or end of life appointments.
We want to thank you for your understanding and patience as we follow state health regulations to keep our staff, clients, and pets as safe as possible when visiting our office while also providing you with the best service we can. Please understand that to do so, wait times may be extended as we try to provide every pet in our office with the care they need. Due to the evolving nature of this pandemic, these guidelines are subject to change. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the office.
Best wishes,
The staff at Johnson City Veterinary Hospital
