We’ve been receiving a lot of questions recently and wanted to take some time to answer some of the most common ones!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
“I tried calling and your voicemail is full.”
We apologize for the inconvenience and understand how frustrating it is when you call and can’t get through. We currently only have 2 phone lines and are doing our best to handle a much higher call volume than we are used to. Please wait a few minutes and try your call again.
“Are you open for service/repair?”
Yes! We are now here Monday-Saturday from 9:30am-4pm for machine pickup/drop off. Just call us from the parking lot when you get here and we’ll take care of the rest!
“Are we able to come into the showroom?”
Unfortunately, we are keeping our showroom closed for the time being. This does NOT mean you cannot color-match thread or buy needles, feet, or other notions and supplies. If you need anything that you would usually come in to pick up, let us know and we will set it aside for you to pick up at your convenience.
“Do you have machines available for purchase?”
As sewing has made a bit of a comeback during this pandemic, many manufacturers have felt the effects of the high demand for sewing machines. This unfortunately lead to sewing machines being one of the many items that are currently unavailable worldwide due to lack of supply. We have a few machines available but any machines that need to be ordered will not ship until later this year. If you would like to know what machines we have in stock or have questions about a machine you would like to order, please give us a call!
“What is your current repair timeline?”
Right now, we are beginning to schedule repairs in the second week of October. Appointments can be made in advance or after dropping the machine off for an estimate.
“Why is your schedule so far out?”
Due to COVID-19, we’ve taken in a much larger volume of machines than we have ever had in for repair at one time. We are doing as many machines per day as we can and notifying customers as soon as their machine is ready for pickup. You do not have to leave your machine here after getting an estimate if you wish to use it before the appointment. You can also schedule an appointment in advance and drop the machine off closer to the appointment date if you are interested in getting an estimate.
“How much does is cost to get my machine cleaned if it doesn’t need anything else?”
Every machine that comes into our store gets an estimate, free of charge. While we don’t have a set base price for cleanings, we will always give you an honest estimate and explain what your machine needs. If you decide not the get the machine serviced, there is no cost to you and you can pick the machine up at your earliest convenience. If you approve the estimate, we will go over our current schedule with you and find an appointment date that works best for you.
“What kind of machines do you work on?”
All kinds! Any brand, any age! We even service commercial machines and treadle machines!
“Are you still offering scissor sharpening?”
Yes! We offer scissor sharpening for $5/pair and $6/pair for pinking shears. Scissors are sharpened on Friday’s before we open, so feel free to drop them off any time during our current business hours!

As most of you know, May 29th is the beginning of the next phase of the state reopening. This means that small businesses can start to reopen and return to normal operations, but there is a lot of responsibility that comes with reopening and we want to make sure that we can ensure our customers health and safety when shopping with us.
Right now, we are still operating for curbside service only. You can still purchase thread, needles, or even a new machine while our showroom is closed! But for the safety of our customers and employees, we will be continuing our current schedule until we can see how things progress for other businesses as they open back up. You can still reach us with any questions or issues by sending us a Facebook message or emailing us at info@jonessewing.com! Curbside pick-up and drop-off is still available Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12pm-3pm. We still service every brand and age of machines and, as always, estimates are free. We realize that right now is the time everyone wants to be able to use their machine and we are working through our schedule as quick as we can but please be patient with us as we work through the astronomical number of machines we’ve taken in recently. We miss you all more than you know and want to get back to normal as soon as possible but we want to make sure we think of everyone’s health and safety first. As soon as we are able to return to our normal operations, you will be the first to know!

As news spreads of a potential shutdown of all nonessential businesses in Illinois, we want you to know that while we intend to cooperate with whatever decision is made, we will still be available to help you via email or Facebook message. If you are having an issue with your machine, no matter what brand it is or how old the machine is, we want to continue to do everything we can to help you even if we can’t physically be there to help you.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a lot of stores and hospitals are running out of sanitary masks. If you are in need of masks or want to be able to donate masks to hospitals or people in need, break out your sewing machine and use this free pattern! This is a great project to use up scrap fabric and allows you to customize each mask to the individual person. We’d love to see what you make so post your finished masks in the comments below!

Due to the recent spread of COVID-19 across the United States and the new confirmed cases in our area, we will be shortening our hours to help prevent the spread to you and our employees. We will be open for pick up and drop off only from 12pm-3pm tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. We will be closed Wednesday and Saturday of this week. If you have questions or need to speak with someone about an issue with your machine, please call us during the above hours at 309-685-5558 or send us a message on Facebook.
In addition to our shortened hours, all door handles, countertops, machines, and other surfaces are being sanitized every morning before we open and throughout the day.

A lot of our customers ask us about used machines which is why we try to keep a good selection available, like this used Janome 6600P. This machine was recently traded in and comes with all of the original feet and accessories! The 6600P has always been a fan favorite for Janome and even with a little light use, this machine will sew through any project you can throw at it and will run for many more years. Christmas is just 1 week away! As crazy as it may seem, 2020 is almost over and we wanted to make sure to thank you all for your business this year as well as your patience as we’ve navigated the challenges COVID-19 has presented. As we continue to remain on curbside service for the time being, we have made the decision to close Christmas Eve and return the following Monday and intend to do the same the following weekend for New Year’s. 2021 will be our 67th year and that would not be possible without all of you. We have been so blessed this year with the amount of machines we’ve taken in for service and we cannot begin to express how thankful we are to be able to serve customers from all over Central Illinois.
