With over 25 years in private practice and nearly 15,0000 successful surgeries and minimally invasive procedures performed, Joseph F. Popovich MD, FACS, is one of the most skilled and experienced surgeons in the tri-state region. He has been honored for his expertise by being named a "Best Surgeon" by both the Castle-Connoly Guide and NJ Magazine every year since 2000. Dr. Popovich has also received several awards from local officials for his service to the community, providing surgical services to the underserved population.
A Jersey City, New Jersey, native, he attended St. Peter's Prep before graduating Magna Cum Laude from Creighton University. He then earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School and completed his residency in surgery at the University of Vermont Medical Center. During medical school, residency, and while in practice, Dr. Popovich co-authored several research publications and pioneered surgical techniques which have appeared in highly regarded national surgical journals.
Dr. Popovich believes in using the least invasive techniques and treatments available for the best surgical outcomes, and uses holistic methods to speed his patients' recovery and return to normal activities. He is also a true patient advocate as he truly educates all his patients about their treatment choices, from open surgery to much less invasive non-surgical methods of healing.
On a personal note, Dr. Popovich is the proud and devoted father of two sons and a daughter: is an avid skier and golfer, as well as a diehard NY Giants and Mets fan.
