Dad gave me that when I was in grade 7. Seen a lot of action. Table Salt. Safety, always off.

You really reach a new point in SEO-understanding when you realize that keywords aren't real; they are tools we use to increase term frequency && guidelines with which to retain an independent variable of topical-reference-permutation to prove validity of initiative/processes.
Google spouts off with a similar thought regarding 'content quality' and how we shouldn't focus on keyword optimization. This is sort of true, but with a bunch of asterisks at the end--I believe my statement to be of more truth & that Google's is a 'spun' version of this.
They are incentivized to push publishers & webmasters to make 'better content' because it makes their job inherently easier.
To those who still recommend a 50-60 character limit on Meta Titles, you're advice is well out of date; I'm looking at a 100-character Title that Google marked up for a competitive term, on mobile.
The inclusion of variant device-width on which to browse the web has allowed for a lot of leeway in pixel-width for titles. Sometimes Google gives you more, sometimes less.
Either way, more room for topical relevance in your Title Tags, and less reason to truncate at 60 characters.
Starting to rollout the new branding!
