Dr. Salazar, a 1980 graduate with honors from the University of South Florida Medical School, fulfilled his surgical residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami. He is a Fellow of the America College of Surgeons. Although experienced in all types of surgical procedures, based on sheer numbers, Dr. Salazar is credited as one of South Florida's leading specialists in laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder, with over 5,000 cases.
Dr. Salazar and Dr. Villegas, were pioneers in the early development of laparoscopic procedures in Miami. Dr. Salazar and Villegas constitute two of the three surgical team members who performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Miami-Dade County.
