He designed this year's National #SickleCellAwarenessMonth t-shirt, and in his drawing, he shows "Star Wars-inspired” ships and explorers searching the farthest depths of the galaxy for a cure for sickle cell disease. We even had more than 30 cardboard cut-outs of our volunteer and facility dogs placed throughout our Dallas campus. Thank you to our teams and pups for bringing the paw-sitivity! 🐾

Now and then, Abby has overcome significant challenges since she left our Heart Center nearly 4 years ago. Diagnosed with a condition called cardiomyopathy, Abby had open-heart surgery to place a ventricular assist device (VAD) that helps her heart pump blood throughout her body.
