National Daughters Day on September 25th is a day to celebrate and cherish our daughters who bring so much love into our lives. Although we don’t really need a reason to celebrate our children, it’s nice to be given the opportunity to pay our daughters some extra attention and show them how much they are loved.
WHY WE CELEBRATE NATIONAL DAUGHTERS DAY:
On National Daughter Day we remember to show unconditional love to the guardian of our family trust, our beautiful, witty, creative, and sometimes, demanding daughters. For aging parents, especially, a daughter maintains a level of connectivity and commitment that keeps families together and healthy. (Of course, that’s not to say that sons don’t do their part. But today, we’re talking exclusively about daughters!)

While spring may be the season of the deep clean, fall is definitely the season to revamp and rejuvenate your home. Between the quiet of a peaceful house once the kids have gone back to school, the smell of damp autumn leaves and the breeze you can finally let in through the windows, it's impossible not to be inspired to redecorate this season. If you're looking for some inspiration, check out the fresh décor trends everyone is pinning right now.
01. Blush is having a moment this year, and while it may seem inherently a color for spring, mixing this soft hue with cool blue and gray tones creates a warm and inviting palette that's perfect for fall. Pinterest users have been searching for and saving this subtle-but-beautiful color over 600% more from last year. We love it paired with copper and chambray.
02. From dorm rooms to living rooms, hanging decor is up 72% this season, and it's all about nature. Rather than decorate with pumpkins this season, try branches and leaves. We love this hanging vase idea that could be replicated with fall leaves, feathers or beads as well.
03. Eucalyptus is a simple but stunning plant to use in your home, and while a vase is great, hanging it can make even more of an impact. We love this simply strung piece that instantly lends a warm, restorative calm to any room.
04. Velvet has been big for a while now, but this season it's 352% more popular than last fall. And it's no surprise–velvet is warm, luxurious, easy to clean and adds a gorgeous touch to every decor style. Velvet isn't just for the living room. It's a stunning and romantic way to add glam to a bedroom with a headboard or throw pillows.
05. When the weather turns cold, there's nothing better than warm fireplaces and candles. This season, everyone is turning to simple pillar lanterns to decorate their homes, up 39% from last year. While Moroccan-style lanterns are lovely, this fall is all about simple and subtle. A few glass pillar lanterns for your dining table or your living space will make your home feel cozy and inviting.

In a time where childhood staples and traditions are becoming a second thought to the COVID-19 safety protocols of 2020, finding ways to be a kid for Halloween are hard to come by. While cruising the streets in large groups and visiting neighborhood houses for treats is no longer the norm, Halloween 2020 doesn’t necessarily need to be canceled, and trick or treating can still happen—with some adjustments. Here are some fun and innovative ways to make the most out of your Halloween this year, while still staying safer.
1. Halloween Candy Fence/Hedge
If you have a fence in your yard, bushes, or even small trees, you can make a candy tree! It’s a contact-free and fun way to display candy and toys for the taking. This innovative idea is from the creative team at Fun365. Writer Heather Clark provides clear, step-by-step instructions here. If you have a fence in your yard, tape or string candy and toys to it will be a fun way for kids to see all the options they can choose from.
If you don’t have a fence, you can still participate. Use a hedge or small tree to hang candy and small treats. Create a spooky theme with loads of goodies the kids will be sure to love.
2. Candy Table With Grab-and-Go Goodie Bags
If you don’t want people at your doorstep, but still want to hand out goodies, set up a treat table. Create pre-packaged goodie bags for neighbors to grab as they stroll by. Get creative with decorations and even give your table its own theme. Dress your (sanitized) table up even more and create social distancing guides with tape marks or pumpkins that are 6 feet apart. And remember to wash your hands before and after handling the candy.
3. Spooky Scavenger Hunt
An epic and spooky scavenger hunt can get kids of all ages out for this fun trick or treat. Plan a nighttime, open-air scavenger hunt to set the spooky mood for older kids and an early evening hunt for the little ones. You can even try a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt. Grab some flashlights and invite the neighborhood to join in. Each family must “decode” where to go to next to collect treats or find signs on each neighbor’s yard or windows for a chance to win some goodies.

🇺🇲 Columbus day is celebrated annually in the United States Of America. It was originally observed on October 12, but that was replaced on the second Monday in 1971. This is an American holiday. On this day Christopher Columbus arrived in America in 1492. It is a day that is not only celebrated in many parts of North America but also parts of Latin America and the Caribbean. It is time to celebrate Italian American heritage.
Christopher Columbus was an Italian Sailor. He was born in 1451 in Genoa, Italy. He Was an Italian explorer, colonist, and sailor. He is remembered as America’s leading European explorer and helped bring America to the forefront of Western consciousness. His discoveries and travels laid out the outline for the subsequent European colonization of Latin and North America.
History – Christopher Columbus is sometimes credited with “Searching” America. Of course, there were already people living in America for thousands of years. Today we call them Native Americans. Columbus was also not the first European to reach the Americans. Columbus first landed in America on October 12, 1492, and the anniversary of the day has since been celebrated in the New World. The 300 and 400 year anniversaries in 1792 and 1892 were major events in the United States, but it was not until 1937 that the day was made an official federal holiday.

Scorpio (10/23 to 11/21) - Posh and Private
Truthfully, if you could just have a cabin in the woods, you’d be happy. Yet your dream home absolutely must reflect the aspects of your personality that are important to you—keeping your life private, introspective, and mysterious. Your home would certainly use darker colors, perhaps in the form of furniture, yet you could also pull off using a darker shade on the walls. Devices such as discreet video camera security systems will help you keep an eye on everything. Even though your entire home would be quite private, a discreet bookshelf door that opens up into a secret reading room would be right up your alley.
Sagittarius (11/22 to 12/21) - Creative and Compact
Though you may not desire spending much time at home, it doesn’t mean you don’t have some great ideas for your dream space. You would love to have a home that could come with you, such as a tiny house that can easily travel wherever you wander. Tiny houses, in general, are known for utilizing the least amount of space to make sure you have everything you need. But at the same time, it also would allow you to keep your memories alive with spaces to hang up photos and other things you might collect on your travels.
Capricorn (12/22 to 1/19) - Sleek and Smart
Your dream home needs to reflect the things you tend to value—hard work and efficiency. Though most would desire a space that lets them get away from a work environment, your dream home would have a layout similar to a home office. (Let’s be honest—you tend to keep on working when you’re at home anyway) You’d lean towards a sleeker decor style with a minimalist mindset. You want your home to stay organized and easily manageable so you can focus on other things besides keeping all your stuff in line. When it comes to decor, a large desk that includes sturdy shelves and additional drawers would be on your list. You’d strive to have a lot of organizational options so you’d never have to wonder where something was located.

Taurus 4/20 - 5/20 - Classy & Calming
You certainly enjoy indulging yourself in beautiful things, and you also crave a comfortable and stable environment, so it would be no shock to see these habits transfer over into your dream home in a big way. You’re likely to select a large, comfy sectional couch with plenty of comfortable items always within reach. The comfortability of your home is also perfect for letting others join you in relaxing. Your kitchen area would really serve as a focal point since you’re known for how much you enjoy delicious food and drink (a wine cellar or even an upscale bar area stocked with only the finest wouldn’t be out of the question for you). As an earth sign, you like to use understated tones and neutral colors to really bring together the feeling of steadiness that you desire in your own life.
Gemini 5/21 - 6/20 - Open & Opulent
You’re social and love having the world and all its possibilities at your fingertips, so you would do everything you could to make your space seem as large as possible. Having big glass panels and wide windows would bring in plenty of light and really open up the room! You certainly would like to keep up with the latest technology and try to stay ahead of everyone else, too. Try incorporating some luxury tech elements like a voice-activated home sound system and smartphone-controlled household features. These devices would make you feel one step ahead of the game.
Cancer 6/21 - 7/22 - Tasteful & Traditional
You have a soft spot for traditional and antique things, so your dream home would absolutely include furniture and décor that fall into those styles. You would be sure to make all places of rest & comfort as cozy as possible. The kitchen would be a focal point too, due to your love of cooking and baking for yourself and loved ones. You’re likely to make that area the largest room in the house if possible, with plenty of space for people to join you while you’re creating your culinary dishes. Your ultimate goal would be to make your home as much of a sanctuary from the outside world as possible, with lighter colors on the walls and maybe even some light pastel hues for your furniture or accent pieces.
Trying to find the right kind of design and home structure can seem overwhelming at times, and there are always factors to consider, like budget, family size/type, and location to name a few. But there are certainly moments when we let our minds wander to what our dream house would look like if there were no restrictions standing in our way. You’d be surprised to find just how much your zodiac sign can really play into your tastes and the ideas you have about your perfect space. We’ve rounded up some grand ideas that each zodiac sign would love to use in their dream homes.
Aquarius 1/20 - 2/18 - Eclectic & Eco-Friendly
You’re quirky and unique, and you absolutely don’t go out of your way to decorate your house like anyone else. It’s likely that you would try to incorporate as much environmentally-conscious and eco-friendly tech options as possible. Think solar panels, rain catching systems, and the like. You certainly enjoy creating a space that lets you be alone with your thoughts and allows you to plan for better ways to help the world around you. But you also appreciate having a lot of space with extra rooms to help others out if and when they needed it.
Pisces 2/19 - 3/20 - Soothing & Serene
While you value having time to yourself, you are drawn to decorating your house in calm, inviting colors that make others (and yourself) feel relaxed. Being a water sign, a cool shade of blue or teal would be a great color scheme choice. Making space for comfy furniture with decorative and soft throw pillows and blankets is an absolute must. Although you like feeling cozy, you still strive to keep the area open and free-flowing, not just cluttering it up with things for the sake of it.
Aries 3/21 - 4/19 - Loud & Lively
You have a big personality, and you tend to chase after life and experience it as fully as possible. Your dream home would likely incorporate bold and adventurous colors and patterns, particularly in your furniture as opposed to on the walls. In a larger scale, you would absolutely need extra rooms to create a more active space to appease your boredom and allow you to always be active.
Today we celebrate Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated November 2. On this day, it is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit their living family members. Many people celebrate this day by visiting the graves of deceased loved ones and setting up altars with their favorite foods, drink, and photos.

National Cat Day is celebrated on October 29. It was created by Colleen Paige to bring awareness to the number of cats that need to be rescued each year.
Cats remind us that just when you think they’ve lost interest in you, they’ll turn around and melt your hearts. When it appears they’re too busy staring out at passing cars, chasing nylon mice, and sending tiny multi-colored balls to their under-the-refrigerator graves, they’ll somehow let you know that their very world revolves around you. Just wait. It’ll happen when you least expect it. Cats have their own timetable.

As crazy as the days leading up to Christmas can be, it’s easy to let the time slip away without capitalizing on all the extra hours with your children. Simply keeping your kids busy while you work at home may be one important goal, but these ideas will help you also get the most out of your Christmas break and allow you to make some memories along the way.
01. Deck the Halls
No one is as enthusiastic about holiday decorating as kids are! Channel their up-for-anything attitude and enlist them to help you deck the halls in time for December 25. Be sure to task them with something fun but not fragile, like cutting out paper snowflakes or hanging up window decals.
02. Bake up Some Goodies
From toddlers to teenagers, kids love mixing and measuring—but most of all, they'll love the treats at the end. To include your children in baking tasks without causing chaos, tailor each holiday baking projects to your kids’ abilities and ages. Add activities to keep little kids engaged (like frosting cookies) while you do more complicated baking tasks or challenge older children with recipes where they can take the lead on their own.
03. Organize Your Home
Getting kids' rooms clean before Christmas may help when it comes to stowing new presents later. Even before Christmas break begins, assess what your children may be willing to donate to charity, so you're ready to make a few suggestions of what might go and what should stay when you organize your child's room. In reality it's an important way for kids to take responsibility for their own playthings.
04. Get Artsy
Art is one of those wonderful activities that can be scaled to almost every age and ability level. Buy yourself some time if you need to work at home by tasking your kids with a fun holiday art project. The end results can even become gifts for relatives or decorations for your house.
05. Write a Story
Penning a story alongside your child can be a great memento of your holiday break. Younger children can contribute to a group story, while older kids can either write their own or illustrate for the family. Bind or laminate your book to keep as a memory of the season and revisit each year.
