The KCA Experience The education at KCA goes beyond traditional school and creates an accepting, encouraging, supportive and nurturing community. Academics, community service and Crew (it's like home room, but more) combine to create students who observe, question, create, analyze, and evaluate. Within the walls of the school, students are empowered to find their voice, encouraged to question, and prepared to shape the future. Students who are eager for a very different school experience meet teachers who are equally eager to open their eyes to a new way of learning. Outside the walls of KCA, even greater learning happens. A student's education at KCA combines rigorous academic content with active teaching and community service, along with real-world projects. Today was my daughter's first day at KCA. It was also the first day she has ever come home from school happy. KCA Parent New Ways of Thinking The KCA Difference KCA is the only independent school in Kansas City offering a curriculum built around Expeditionary Learning (EL Education), an educational collaboration stemming from The Harvard Graduate School of Education and Outward Bound USA. EL Education is a nationwide education network of K-12 schools with a focus on mastery of knowledge and skills, character growth, and producing high-quality student work. This curriculum inspires growth in students in these three areas through hands-on, project-based learning, moving learning beyond classroom walls, and instilling in students a sense of confidence through exploration and adventure.
