At kapowui, we live, eat, and dream surfing. We teach surfing because we want to share our love and stoke for surfing. All of our instructors are imbued with the Aloha spirit. Kapowui believes we are all part of one big family, so when we are doing a lesson, we are 100% focused and in the moment with you. All of Kapowui's instructors live within blocks of the beach and surf every day. This is a life choice for us. We are not a corporate machine grinding out massive quantities of sub-par internet coupon lessons with minium wage non surfing employees. Kapowui is a locally owned business with soul that only hires real surfers. Kapowui truly care about your experince. So, when you do a lesson with us, you get the opportunity to feel the true surfer vibe, and gain a skill you can use forever. Even if you don't do a lesson, come by and say "HI".Lessons take place at the iconic Venice, Marina Del Rey, Santa Monica and Malibu beaches, where the sandy bottom beaches are safe and perfect for beginner lessons. Stay after your lesson and lay out on the white sandy beaches, bike or walk on the boardwalk, experience all the local artists, check out the Santa Monica and Venice piers, beach-side restaurants, bars, skate park, hotels, street performers, basketball and hand ballcourts, Muscle Beach and so much more. Lesson includes surfboard, wetsuit and instructor. We offer 1 hr., 1 1/2 hr., and 2 hr. lessons. The first 20 minutes of each lesson is done on the beach, covering board design and dynamics, wave dynamics, beach saftey, surfing saftey, surf etiquette, pop-up technique and form. The remainder of your time is spent in the water, surfing with your instructor.
